Project Overview
The Division of Enterprise Applications (DEA) is seeking a Principal Cloud and Data Engineering Architect Consultant to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise-scale Azure cloud solutions. This role will drive DEA''s cloud modernization initiatives by developing a cloud-native integration platform that supports statewide agencies, CLIENT, and enterprise HR/ERP systems.
The consultant will provide technical leadership across Azure cloud services, enterprise integration, API management, data engineering, DevOps, cloud governance, security, and enterprise architecture.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise Azure cloud solutions.
  • Design scalable cloud-native integration platforms using REST APIs, event-driven architecture, asynchronous messaging, and Azure services.
  • Architect and guide implementation of Azure Data Lake and enterprise data engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership for DevOps, GitOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), security, monitoring, and operational readiness.
  • Develop architecture standards, governance frameworks, technical documentation, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, infrastructure, cybersecurity teams, vendors, developers, and business stakeholders.
  • Mentor technical teams and promote cloud engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience).
  • 10+ years designing, developing, and implementing enterprise technology solutions.
  • 7+ years designing and implementing cloud-native solutions using Microsoft Azure (AWS/Google Cloud Platform experience also considered).
  • Strong experience with:

  • Azure Data Engineer Associate
  • TOGAF (or equivalent Enterprise Architecture Certification)
Work Schedule
  • Primarily Remote
