Description

Ecentria is looking to add a Senior Dev Ops Engineer to our team! This hybrid role requires employees to work onsite in our Northbrook, IL office once per week.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain and develop system for provisioning and configuring of virtual infrastructure in AWS, VMWare and other similar environments
  • Design, build and support scalable platforms to efficiently support on-premise and Cloud infrastructure. This includes in-house systems, third party applications (such as JIRA), and service components (web servers, data bases).
  • Design and build tools for monitoring, testing, and diagnosis of systems
  • Participate in an emergency on-call rotation (one to two weeks a month)
  • Participate in collaborative troubleshooting processes
  • Adhere to company and industry best practice standards for IT troubleshooting. This includes documentation, incident replication and trend analysis
  • Create positive productive relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Contribute to the Team's AI Initiatives, use AI to troubleshoot and understand configuration changes 
  • Other ad hoc duties or projects as assigned

Requirements

Experience & Core Stack

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar DevOps/infrastructure engineering role
  • Experience working with a LAMP stack
  • Experience with object-oriented programming and design patterns
  • Experience with web platforms and technologies, including HTTP, REST APIs, and JSON
  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)

Cloud, Virtualization & Containers

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (required) and Azure (a plus), including identifying and troubleshooting related issues
  • Required Hands-on experience with Terraform/Terragrunt (required) for infrastructure-as-code in cloud environments
  • Experience with and good understanding of containerization technologies, including Kubernetes (required) and Docker
  • Experience with and good understanding of virtualization platforms, particularly VMware and/or Proxmox

Linux & Scripting

  • Advanced understanding of and troubleshooting experience with Linux operating systems (Ubuntu preferred)
  • Proficiency writing Bash scripts
  • Programming/scripting experience in Python, PHP, or other scripting languages, including automating software deployments

Data & Messaging Systems

  • Good knowledge of MySQL administration and troubleshooting
  • Experience with most of the following: HAProxy, Apache, Nginx, RabbitMQ, Cassandra, ElasticSearch/Logstash/Kibana
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues across these systems

Web Servers & Load Balancing

  • Experience configuring web servers, including Apache HTTPD and Nginx
  • Experience with software load balancers such as HAProxy, Nginx, or similar

Configuration Management & Tooling

  • Experience with provisioning and configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or Salt
  • Experience with GitHub and the Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, BitBucket)

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual Based Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000
  • The annual based range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
