Axos Bank is seeking an experienced Lead Enterprise Architect to inform and guide execution of our software development roadmap in support of Axos' strategy. The ideal candidate will have experience within Banking and/or Fintech, see the "big picture" and create architectural approaches for software design and implementation to guide the development teams across diverse financial services verticals. This role requires a deep technical background and excellent software skills, including demonstrable experience in designing software and processes. The goal is to provide a framework for the development of systems that result in high quality solutions that meet business needs, are highly scalable, modular, maintainable, extensible, and secure. Additionally, the ability to develop a unified vision and communicate that vision effectively at all levels of the organization from the developer through executive level is critical.

Responsibilities:

  • Design software architecture specifications that support the functional and non-functional requirements of the software solutions, such as usability, reliability, availability, modularity, interoperability, maintainability, testability, and security.
  • Apply modern architecture principles and patterns, such as microservices, cloud-native, serverless, event-driven, reactive, domain-driven design, API-first, and DevOps.
  • Leverage the latest technologies and tools, such as AI, machine learning, big data, Crypto, IoT, blockchain, and cloud services, to enhance the software solutions and create competitive advantages.
  • Improve and enforce the software engineering standards, guidelines, methodologies, processes, and best practices
  • Guide and mentor matrixed software engineering teams, including architects, developers, testers, and DevOps engineers, and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Collaborate extensively with product management, business units, and technology teams to understand the customer needs, market trends, and business opportunities, and translate them into software solutions with competitive advantages.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, frameworks, libraries, and tools, and provide recommendations and guidance on their adoption and integration.
  • Monitor and analyze the software performance, quality, security, and scalability, and identify and resolve any issues or risks.
  • Document and present the software architecture, design, and implementation to the internal and external stakeholders, such as executives, customers, partners, and vendors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years' experience in software engineering
  • 5+ years' experience in software architecture and design
  • Prior experience within Banking and/or Fintech
  • Proven track record of designing, developing, and delivering complex and scalable software solutions for online and mobile applications, preferably for both B2B and B2C customers
  • Expert knowledge and hands-on experience in various programming languages, frameworks, platforms, and tools, such as Java, Python, C#, .NET, Node.js, React, Angular, Vue, Flutter, AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in applying modern architecture principles and patterns, such as microservices, cloud-native, serverless, event-driven, reactive, domain-driven design, API-first, and DevOps
  • Strong knowledge and experience in leveraging the latest technologies and tools, such as AI, machine learning, big data, IoT, blockchain, and cloud services, to enhance the software solutions and create competitive advantages
  • Strong knowledge and experience in establishing and enforcing the software engineering standards, guidelines, methodologies, processes, and best practices, such as agile, scrum, kanban, code review, testing, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous improvement
