What is a Devin?

Devin is an AI-powered software engineering platform designed to automate tasks that are traditionally performed by human developers. It can write code, debug, perform code reviews, and even manage end-to-end software projects with minimal human supervision. Devin acts as an autonomous agent, collaborating with teams to streamline workflows, increase productivity, and reduce the time needed to deliver software solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a software developer?

To thrive as a Software Developer, you need proficiency in programming languages (such as Java, Python, or JavaScript), problem-solving abilities, and typically a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, development frameworks, and relevant certifications (such as AWS Certified Developer) are often required. Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability help developers excel in collaborative and fast-paced environments. These skills and qualities ensure the ability to build efficient software solutions, work effectively with others, and adapt to evolving technology.

What are some common challenges software developers face when collaborating with cross-functional teams?

Software developers often work closely with designers, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver high-quality products. A common challenge is ensuring clear and consistent communication across diverse teams, especially when priorities or technical understanding differ. Developers may also need to balance technical requirements with user experience goals, requiring flexibility and strong problem-solving skills. Developing effective collaboration habits and utilizing agile methodologies can help navigate these challenges and foster a productive team environment.

Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Backlog Leadership
• Own and manage the Salesforce product backlog end-to-end - defining epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and sprint-ready work items with technical precision and business clarity
• Partner with business stakeholders, architects, and delivery leads to translate complex operational requirements into well-scoped, prioritized, and dependency-aware backlog items
• Drive sprint planning, backlog grooming, and story readiness ceremonies as the primary product voice, ensuring technical completeness and business alignment in every user story
• Balance short-term delivery commitments with long-term platform health, managing trade-offs between new feature development, technical debt, and compliance requirements
Technical Depth & Platform Fluency
• Demonstrate working knowledge of Salesforce platform capabilities including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Flows, Apex-driven customizations, and LWC - enabling credible, technical dialogue with architects and developers
• Evaluate and challenge solution designs for feasibility, scalability, and alignment with platform best practices, governance standards, and org health principles
• Understand and articulate Salesforce customization constraints, governor limits, and configuration vs. code trade-offs to guide prioritization and scope decisions
• Support technical grooming sessions by identifying ambiguities, edge cases, and non-functional requirements before stories enter development
Integration & Data Awareness
• Maintain a working understanding of enterprise integration patterns connecting Salesforce to systems including MuleSoft, SAP, Documentum, Excalibur, and legacy platforms - ensuring user stories account for API dependencies, data contracts, and system constraints
• Partner with integration and data engineering teams to define data flow requirements, transformation logic, and validation rules as part of story acceptance criteria
• Support data migration initiatives by defining business validation rules, cutover acceptance criteria, and reconciliation checkpoints for migrations from legacy platforms (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics)
• Collaborate with the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) and Data Cloud teams to ensure product decisions align with data architecture, lineage standards, and compliance requirements
Generative AI & Agentic AI Delivery
• Leverage Agentic AI platforms (Windsurf, Devin, or equivalent) daily for accelerated story creation, acceptance criteria generation, process documentation, and sprint artifact development
• Apply prompt engineering best practices - iterative prompting, session scoping, and peer review gates - to ensure AI-generated stories are complete, accurate, and development-ready
• Partner with the Salesforce Architect and Tech Lead to define and integrate Einstein AI, Agentforce, and GenAI-enabled flows into product workflows, case management, and portal experiences
• Champion AI-augmented product delivery practices across the team, driving measurable outcomes including ~50% faster story creation, 40-60% reduction in BA/QA effort, and improved sprint throughput
• Contribute to AI efficiency benchmarking and reporting aligned with client's 2026-2028 AI-first delivery strategy
Data-Informed Product Decisions
• Define and monitor product success metrics including SLA adherence, defect rates, user adoption, and delivery velocity - using data to inform prioritization and roadmap adjustments
• Maintain audit-ready documentation, release notes, and traceability matrices aligned with NERC, utility-sector compliance standards, and enterprise governance requirements
• Communicate product progress, risks, and outcomes in concise, executive-level formats suitable for leadership reporting and organizational transparency
Governance, Compliance & Release Readiness
• Ensure all product increments meet security, access management, and platform governance standards prior to release - coordinating with architects and QA leads on readiness gates
• Define and maintain Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD) standards that embed compliance, documentation, and governance checkpoints into every delivery cycle
• Support SIT/UAT coordination, defect triage, and user acceptance - driving defect counts below the 5% threshold and ensuring smooth change management and user adoption
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
• Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, IT leadership, and the delivery team - translating vision into execution with clarity, diplomacy, and accountability
• Facilitate discovery workshops, process walkthroughs, and stakeholder demos that build shared understanding and drive confident decision-making
• Communicate release plans, roadmap updates, and delivery risks proactively to leadership in concise, business-impact-focused formats
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Technical PM with a strong focus on Salesforce platform delivery
• Demonstrable technical fluency in Salesforce platform capabilities including customization, integrations, data modeling, and automation - sufficient to lead technical grooming and challenge solution designs
• Proven experience writing high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria for complex enterprise Salesforce solutions
• Working knowledge of integration architecture and data engineering concepts including APIs, middleware patterns, ETL/ELT, and data migration
• Active daily use of Generative AI and/or Agentic AI tools in a product delivery context with measurable productivity outcomes
• Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments as a practicing Product Owner with strong backlog management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Salesforce certifications: Administrator (required); Platform App Builder or Business Analyst certification strongly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in regulated utility, energy, or infrastructure sectors with awareness of NERC compliance, audit requirements, and data governance standards
• Familiarity with Salesforce Data Cloud, Einstein AI, Agentforce, and AI-enabled workflow design
• Hands-on experience with Windsurf, Devin, or similar Agentic AI delivery platforms
• Knowledge of Documentum, Excalibur, SAP, or enterprise content management systems from a product requirements perspective
• Background in multi-vendor offshore/nearshore delivery models and managing distributed agile teams
