Job Description:
Developmental Specialist (Adult IDD program)
 Journeys Developmental Disability Agency (DDA) serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Rigby Area. We are hiring a Developmental Specialist/Supervisor to oversee the program.
As a Developmental Specialist/Supervisor (DS), you'll be responsible for leading direct support staff, overseeing Participant caseloads, and ensuring high-quality, person-centered services for our amazing adult Participants. An ideal supervisor also cultivates a fun, engaging, and therapeutic environment by facilitating creative group activities and modeling positive, professional interactions. Our Developmental Specialists always strive to demonstrate strong leadership, clinical insight, and a commitment to fostering growth and meaningful engagement for every Participant.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Overseeing direct support staff, including training, coaching, performance evaluation, and monthly observations
  • Case management for Clients assigned to your caseload
  • Perform functional assessments
  • Maintain professional contact with Targeted Service Coordinators
  • Manage relevant documentation and billing in a timely, organized, and compliant manner
  • Fostering an environment that is fun, energetic, and supportive while remaining structured and therapeutic
  • Build strong rapport with Participants while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Plan, lead, and adapt group activities that promote skill development, socialization, and meaningful engagement for Participants of varying support needs
  • Manage behavioral, medical, or other crises if they arise
  • Implement, understand, and train staff regarding behavior support strategies, behavior modification techniques, person-centered planning, and community-based interventions
  • Monitor all services to ensure they meet regulatory and compliance requirements as outlined in the state of Idaho code.
  • Stay updated and perform duties as designated in DDA regulations; further details can be found in the regulation documentation.
  • Represent Journeys DDA in discussions with state agencies, legislature groups, professional associations, etc.
  • Offer resolutions for day-to-day issues, problems, or crises that families, advocates, or other agencies face when the primary channel of resolution is insufficient.
  • Maintain and manage both client and employee files as necessary.

Please note that other duties might be assigned in line with the DDA regulations.
Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a health and human services field (i.e., Psychology, Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation, etc.) Additional Bachelor's-level degrees may qualify on a case-by-case basis
  • A minimum of 240 hours of professionally supervised experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities
  • Valid Driver's License and auto insurance
  • Be certified in First-Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) *We can help you obtain this certification!*
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in preparing reports, objectives, and assessments.
  • Aptitude for managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality and accuracy.
  • Upholds and embodies the core philosophies of Journeys DDA.
  • Commitment to ethical practices and adherence to organizational standards.
  • Respect for patient confidentiality and understanding of relevant laws and practices.
