Position Purpose

The Assistant Home Shopping Department Manager supports the Home Shopping Department Manager in overseeing all aspects of online order fulfillment, customer satisfaction, associate development, and operational performance. This position assists in managing daily department operations, ensuring accurate and timely order selection, maintaining productivity standards, and delivering an exceptional omnichannel customer experience.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations
  • Assist in coordinating daily home shopping operations, including order picking, staging, and customer order handoff.
  • Ensure customer orders are selected accurately and completed within established service standards.
  • Monitor order volume and allocate labor resources efficiently to meet business demands.
  • Ensure all online orders are properly prepared, staged, and delivered according to company procedures.
  • Assist with managing workflow and resolving operational challenges to maintain productivity goals.
  • Maintain department organization, cleanliness, and operational readiness.
Customer Service
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and support a positive online shopping experience.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, concerns, substitutions, and order-related issues professionally and promptly.
  • Assist in resolving customer complaints and service recovery situations.
  • Promote customer satisfaction through order accuracy, timeliness, and quality standards.
  • Support customer loyalty initiatives and digital shopping programs.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Assist with training, coaching, and developing Home Shopping associates.
  • Provide daily direction and support to department team members.
  • Monitor productivity, accuracy, and performance expectations.
  • Help create a positive work environment focused on teamwork and accountability.
  • Assist with scheduling and staffing to support operational requirements.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Department Manager.
Inventory & Quality Management
  • Ensure products selected for customer orders meet company freshness and quality standards.
  • Monitor out-of-stock products and support effective substitution practices.
  • Assist with inventory accuracy and department shrink reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with store departments to resolve inventory availability concerns.
  • Maintain quality control processes throughout order fulfillment operations.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and promote safe operating practices.
  • Ensure proper handling of refrigerated, frozen, and perishable products.
  • Support compliance with labor, safety, and company operational standards.
  • Protect customer information and maintain data confidentiality.
Financial Performance
  • Assist in achieving departmental sales, labor, productivity, and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Monitor labor utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Support shrink reduction and expense control initiatives.
  • Review department metrics and implement improvements to enhance performance.
  • Contribute to the achievement of overall store and department objectives.
