Position Summary Information
Position Summary
The Department of Psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy seeks to fill a tenure-track position beginning August 2021 at the rank of Assistant Professor (although outstanding candidates at another rank may be considered). The position is in the area of developmental psychology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
For this position, the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels; developing a successful research program; advising undergraduate students; supervising student research; and engaging in service to the program, department, college, university, and profession. The developmental psychology position will manage the Developmental Psychology major and minor and meet graduate program needs for developmental psychology expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology or a related discipline
- Strong affinity for and ability to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Clear evidence of research productivity or potential
- Clear evidence of the capacity to direct undergraduate and master's-level research projects as well as doctoral dissertations
- Commitment to cultural inclusion and diversity
- Area of specialization is open, with preference for research that focuses on bi-directional levels of influence of biological and social factors on behavior at any phase of the lifespan, research methods, or quantitative methods

Physical Requirements
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
