DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR - Heersink School of Medicine
For UAB's Department of Medicine
General Responsibilities:
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Development Coordinator to join the Heersink School of Medicine development office for the Department of Medicine. The primary responsibility of this position is to work closely with and support the Development efforts of assigned areas in securing major gifts and recognizing major gift donors and volunteers. This includes performing administrative duties such as CRM input and management, grateful patient workflow, managing the Department of Medicine donor acknowledgement process, supporting activities of the two Department of Medicine volunteer boards and cultivation activities for the center, calendaring, and submitting reimbursements.
The Development Coordinator works with the Directors of Development and other University personnel and must be able to function as an integral part of a team to facilitate successful fundraising programs. To be successful in this position, you must have a positive attitude and excellent networking skills. You must be a problem solver, be efficient, be able to proactively plan initiatives, and be able to manage multiple tasks at once.
This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Development of the Department of Medicine within the Heersink School of Medicine.
Position is full-time, on-site position.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Reviews monthly reports, coordinates mailings and executes follow-up phone calls, e-mails and visits to potential prospects. Cultivates relationships with potential prospects as well as faculty that may refer potential prospects to Development.
2. Coordinates research on prospects including individuals, corporations and foundations identified by Directors of Development and Major Gifts Officers as potential sources for philanthropic funds for their unit, center or school.
3. Develops and coordinates periodic informational mailings to prospects. Creates and distributes donor materials. Assists in identifying and marking materials for inclusion in prospect and project files and record keeping systems.
4. Works with Director of Development in appropriate areas to coordinate follow up activities with prospects.
5. Prepares presentations and ensures integrity of data collected.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Hourly Pay Range: $19.79 - $24.03
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
Preferred Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• One to two (2) years of fundraising or related experience required
• Higher education experience is preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
• Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Strong project management skills, including time management
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite
