Job description

The Certified Medical Assistant provides professional clinical care for patients following established standards and practices. Assist patients before, during and after the visit with compassion and empathy. Provides quality patient care under the direct supervision of the Providers while directly reporting to the Business Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
  • Greet patients and visitors in a timely, friendly and professional manner; provide exceptional customer service
  • Verify patient demographics and applicable insurance benefits; maintain accurate electronic patient records
  • Assist patients with check-in process
  • Coordinate with clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow within the clinic
  • Communicate updates to patients timely
  • Prepare, restock and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures
  • Accompany patients to examination or treatment room, measure and record vital signs, review patient's medical history, update information and changes in medical history as needed, and prepare them for examination or treatment
  • Assist Providers during treatment/procedures, examinations, and testing of patients
  • Where applicable, clean wounds, draw labs, complete electrocardiograms, and apply dressings and splints perform phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the Provider
  • Administer vaccines, immunizations and medications prescribed by the Provider; lab work may consist of throat cultures, hematocrits, and urinalysis, among others
  • Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider; ensure patient's understanding of care instructions and wellness plan
  • Represent the clinic in a friendly, professional manner; treat all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner
  • Participate in team activities, team meetings and professional development activities
  • Demonstrate and embody TGH Urgent Care powered by Fast Track's mission and core values
  • Comply with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines regarding patient confidentiality as well as follow all principles of medical ethics
  • Complete required training
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Strong patient focus with an ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness and operational excellence through best practices, collaboration and partnerships, as well as ensuring positive patient, team member and provider experiences
  • Effectively manages own time, conflicting priorities, self, composure, and professional development; self-motivated and self-starter with ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of individuals
  • Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and in sometimes emotionally challenging situations
  • Ability to cross train between front office and mid office responsibilities as needed to ensure a high functioning clinic
  • Effectively act as a liaison between patients and Providers
  • Ability to follow established office routines and organizational policies

Education and Qualification Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Active CPR/BLS certification
  • Active Medical Assistant certification
  • Experience with EPIC, preferred

Work Environment:
  • This position operates on-site in a professional medical environment
  • Consistent use of technology platforms throughout shift to complete assigned work tasks
  • Ability to move supplies and office equipment (up to 20 lbs.)

Work Schedule and Travel:
  • Typical Work Schedule: 40-hour work week Sunday through Saturday with 3 x 12-hour shifts and 1x 6-hour shift within designated Region
  • Every other weekend shift, Saturday and Sunday, required
  • Overtime hour availability based on patient volume and clinic need
