Job Summary

Quality matters most when the mission cannot afford failure. As a Quality Engineering Intern, you will support the systems, processes, and product improvements that help ensure our technologies perform reliably for the people who depend on them. This fall internship offers hands-on exposure to real engineering and manufacturing challenges, with opportunities to contribute to quality planning, problem solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts across cross-functional teams. You will work alongside experienced professionals, gain visibility into how quality supports customer requirements and program execution and build practical skills that translate directly to a future career in engineering. This is a strong opportunity for a student who wants to learn quickly, contribute meaningfully, and see how disciplined quality practices drive mission success.

Essential Functions
  • Support the development and execution of quality plans that translate customer and program requirements into effective quality activities.
  • Analyze product and process information to help identify trends, improve performance, and strengthen overall product quality.
  • Partner with engineering, test, inspection, and manufacturing teams to help resolve quality issues and improve workmanship, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in root cause and corrective action efforts for product and process issues, helping drive problems to effective resolution.
  • Contribute to internal audits, quality system activities, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Assist with nonconforming material review and help support Material Review Boards, Failure Review Boards, and product quality improvement teams.
  • Help address customer and supplier quality topics through data gathering, documentation review, audit support, and corrective action follow-up.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or Master's program in an  Engineering discipline
  • At least two years of academic experience with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Ability to support a 15-20 hour per week, onsite schedule
  • Basic understanding of quality principles, statistics, and continuous improvement tools such as ISO standards, Six Sigma, or SPC.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, interpret specifications, and understand structured engineering documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Good problem-solving skills and an interest in identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions.
  • Comfortable organizing, analyzing, and reporting information related to products, processes, or test results.
  • Able to work independently with guidance in a professional manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications / Additional Skills
  • Coursework or project experience in quality engineering, manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, software, or supplier quality environments.
  • Familiarity with military specifications, regulated environments, or highly technical product development.
  • Exposure to audit activities, process improvement projects, or data analysis tools.
  • Interest in pursuing quality-related credentials such as ASQ certification in the future.
