Assistant Project Manager — Construction

About the Opportunity:

Our client is a well-established and growing construction organization with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential projects. They are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their project team and support the successful delivery of complex construction projects from pre-construction through completion.

This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional looking to take the next step in their career and gain increased responsibility across project management, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and client relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager with the overall planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects
  • Support project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost control processes
  • Coordinate with consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts, change orders, RFIs, and project documentation
  • Assist with tendering, procurement, subcontractor negotiations, and contract administration
  • Track project progress and identify potential schedule, cost, and scope issues
  • Prepare and maintain project reports, meeting minutes, schedules, and documentation
  • Assist with the preparation and review of project budgets, progress claims, purchase orders, and change orders
  • Participate in project meetings and maintain strong communication with clients and project stakeholders
  • Conduct site visits and work closely with site teams to ensure project requirements are being met
  • Assist with quality control, safety requirements, and compliance with project specifications
  • Help resolve project issues and coordinate solutions between internal and external stakeholders
  • Support project closeout, deficiency management, turnover, and warranty processes

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in construction project coordination, project management, or a related role
  • Experience working on commercial, institutional, industrial, or large-scale construction projects
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline is preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, scheduling, and project documentation
  • Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, RFIs, change orders, and subcontracts
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Experience with construction management/project management software is an asset
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, consultants, trades, and clients
