The Communication Associate, University Advancement Communication (UAC), provides support to deliver creative and integrated multi-channel communications for University Advancement (UA). The Communication Associate serves as a project manager, writer and editor for both digital and print communication and marketing initiatives within University Advancement, including the academic enterprise, the colleges, athletics and various other areas. The Communication Associate also serves as the primary point-of-contact and collaborates with various UA departments on a portfolio of communication and marketing projects to ensure alignment with the Villanova brand and achievement of UA's fundraising and alumni engagement goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serves as a project manager, writer and editor for both digital and print communication and marketing initiatives within University Advancement, including solicitations, major gift proposals, publications, event communications and presentations.
  • Develops, plans, schedules and collaborates with various UA departments on communication and marketing projects, including systems and data management, as well as working closely with University Communication and Marketing on design, photography and production.
  • Serves as a cross-functional member of the UAC team, managing additional projects as needed.
  • Performs other duties and assists with projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education
  • Bachelor's degree required in communications, marketing, English or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Experience
  • 2+ years of writing, project management and communication experience for multiple platforms within an academic, business or non-profit environment.

Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills)
  • Must be a team player with strong writing, editing, organizational, project management and planning skills. Must be a flexible, upbeat, energetic self-starter who enjoys collaboration with a wide variety of constituencies. This individual must also have the ability to handle multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment. This individual must also be able to thrive within a matrixed organization and must be able to work collaboratively and effectively within varied and complex teams. Must have strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of departments/colleagues. Must be able to work independently as well as with others and handle situations with diplomacy and tact. This individual must have a deep commitment to the well-being of the University, a commitment to the University's Augustinian Catholic heritage, the advancement of its mission and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
