Job description

Superior Insurance Partners is a rapidly growing insurance brokerage platform specializing in commercial lines, personal lines, and employee benefits solutions for businesses and individuals across the United States. Through strategic acquisitions and long-term partnerships with leading independent agencies, Superior has built a strong presence throughout the Midwest and Eastern U.S.
At the core of Superior's approach is its mission: to improve the lives of its Agency Partners by supporting their personal, professional, and financial goals. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model, Superior develops customized growth strategies tailored to each partner agency's unique vision and objectives. Agency partners gain access to a robust shared-services platform that includes accounting and finance, recruiting, human resources, AMS/IT support, marketing, and M&A expertise - allowing local agencies to maintain their entrepreneurial culture while benefiting from the scale, resources, and best practices of a larger organization. Long-term economic alignment ensures partners remain invested in the collective success and growth of the platform.
Superior Insurance Partners is backed by Tyree & D'Angelo Partners ("TDP"), a leading Chicago-based private equity firm focused on investing in and partnering with lower middle-market businesses. TDP companies have completed over 1,000 partnerships, have grown to over $4 billion of enterprise value, and TDP has over $1.4 billion of capital under management.
Seren Specialty Insurance (SEREN) is a program administrator delivering tailored insurance solutions to the specialty insurance market. SEREN provides end-to-end services across the insurance lifecycle, including underwriting, policyholder services, claims administration, risk management, and distribution. Through an integrated platform offering a full suite of capabilities, SEREN enables more efficient deployment of capital across the insurance value chain, maximizing value for both owned and partner carriers.
Seren Specialty is seeking a driven, relationship-focused Business Development Associate to help expand our retail and wholesale broker network and drive new business growth to our Healthcare, Transportation and Hospitality verticals.
This is a highly proactive sales role for someone who enjoys building relationships, opening doors, and creating new opportunities. The Business Development Associate will be responsible for identifying and engaging retail insurance brokers, introducing them to Seren Specialty's capabilities and programs, and developing relationships that lead to new submissions and business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify and target retail and wholesale insurance brokers who are strong prospects for Seren Specialty's programs and capabilities
  • Conduct consistent outbound prospecting through cold calling, email, LinkedIn, referrals, industry events, and other channels
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective retail broker relationships
  • Introduce Seren Specialty's underwriting capabilities, programs, and value proposition to new broker partners
  • Develop meaningful relationships with producers, account executives, and other key contacts within brokerages
  • Schedule introductory meetings and create opportunities for Seren's underwriting team to engage with prospective brokers
  • Maintain regular contact with broker partners to keep Seren top of mind and identify new business opportunities
  • Partner closely with underwriting and leadership to understand target accounts, appetite, market opportunities, and areas of growth
  • Help drive increased submissions and premium from both new and existing broker relationships
  • Track prospecting activity, broker engagement, opportunities, and results within the company's CRM or sales tracking system
  • Develop a strong understanding of Seren Specialty's products, underwriting appetite, target industries, and competitive differentiators
  • Attend industry conferences, networking events, broker meetings, and other business development activities as needed
  • Stay informed on market trends and competitive activity to identify new opportunities for growth

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of professional experience, with some experience in commercial insurance, specialty insurance, wholesale brokerage, MGA, retail brokerage, or a related insurance environment preferred
  • Demonstrated sales mindset with a strong desire to prospect, build relationships, and generate new business
  • Comfortable with high-volume outbound calling and cold outreach
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Confident communicating with insurance producers, brokers, and industry professionals
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working toward measurable sales and activity goals
  • Persistent and resilient; comfortable hearing "no" and continuing to pursue opportunities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized and disciplined in managing a pipeline and following up consistently
  • Collaborative approach and ability to work closely with underwriting and internal teams
  • Ability to quickly learn insurance products, underwriting appetite, and Seren Specialty's value proposition

The anticipated salary range for this position is $65,000-75,000 plus bonuses depending on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's background and overall fit for the role.
