Title: Engineering Specialist - Materials Engineer
Location: Richland, WA

Position Description:
Material Engineer will provide engineering support and technical guidance to the engineering disciplines for the HLW vitrification design and fabrication processes. The Materials Engineer will perform in-depth engineering analysis, and develop material engineering solutions to address any emergent material engineering related issues. Other key functions of Material Engineer is to develop and maintain material engineering specifications, and resolve material quality issues.
The Materials Engineer is responsible for reviewing and performing engineering design deliverables to ensure technical adequacy in areas such as coatings, material selection, material compatibility and protection, welding, and metallurgy to help complete the design. The Engineering Specialist will be interfacing with other engineering disciplines and functional groups to solve complex issues associated with the High-Level Waste Facility. This position requires interface with groups across the project, supporting Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC).
This work will be performed under direction of a senior technical specialist, Project Engineers, and/or Design Authority. The successful applicant will have the ability to interact with all levels of staff in an effective and diplomatic manner.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Serve as residing material technology expert to the WTP project
  • Complete reviews and assigned tasks following procedures while assuring technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with other groups to resolve issues.
  • Complete revisions to material specifications and design deliverables.
  • Facilitate communication with various stakeholders
  • Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team
  • Complete assigned engineering tasks within budget/schedule
  • Support and implement the nuclear safety quality culture in day-to-day work activities.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university with 2 years of experience or Doctorate in Engineering.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
  • Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Related experience includes but is not limited to experience in performing calculations and design, including documentation related to hydraulics, equipment sizing, and overall system design for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities.

The salary range for this role is $94,000 - $114,000; however, Craig Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training and preferred skills and knowledge.
