The Senior Public Relations Manager is a key leader within The Martin Groups B2B Communications practice, serving as both a strategic counselor and senior execution lead on complex, high-profile B2B communications accounts. This role is ideal for a communications professional with exceptional writing and storytelling abilities, proven executive communications expertise, and a demonstrated track record supporting B2B brands, products, and servicesparticularly within complex, regulated, or highly technical industries.

As a trusted advisor to clients, you will translate sophisticated business and technical concepts into compelling narratives that resonate with media, stakeholders, policymakers, and executive audiences. The role requires sound judgment, confident real-time counsel, proactive idea generation, and ownership of account strategy, execution, budgets, and overall client success.


What Youll Do

  • Lead complex communications initiatives and provide strategic recommendations grounded in media insights, performance data, and B2B industry trends.
  • Translate complex, technical, and industry-specific information into clear, compelling messaging tailored to executive, media, stakeholder, and client audiences.
  • Write confidently in multiple voices and tones, adapting content to diverse audiences, industries, brands, and business objectives.
  • Lead B2B media outreach efforts, including pitching, responding to media inquiries, and managing relationships with business, trade, national, and regional media.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, analysts, bloggers, and industry influencers relevant to assigned accounts.
  • Collaborate closely with technical, engineering, product, operations, and executive teams to accurately communicate complex products, services, technologies, and industry issues.
  • Support communications programs tied to major industry trade shows, association conferences and internal employee events
  • Build and maintain relationships with key industry analysts, research firms, trade associations, and conference organizers to enhance visibility and influence within target markets.
  • Develop content for highly technical audiences, including white papers, case studies, technical articles, industry reports, executive briefings, speeches, talking points, customer success stories and analyst-facing materials.
  • Measure and communicate the business impact of communications efforts using metrics aligned with B2B objectives, including share of voice, thought leadership placement, lead generation and sales enablement support.
  • Monitor emerging news, media, digital, and content trends to identify opportunities that drive visibility, engagement, and thought leadership.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, proactively managing brand reputation and executive communications to strengthen and protect public perception.
  • Anticipate client needs, generate fresh ideas, and provide timely, strategic counsel that advances business objectives.
  • Develop and manage strategic communications plans that align with client goals and adapt to evolving market conditions.
  • Represent The Martin Group and its clients at networking, media, industry, and community events.
  • Lead account execution by coordinating internal resources, delegating work as appropriate, and ensuring quality, consistency, and forward momentum.
  • Manage budgets, timelines, status reports, and project deliverables to ensure work is completed on time, on budget, and at a high standard.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to deliver integrated communications and marketing solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior team members through coaching, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
  • Champion the value of public relations within integrated marketing programs and contribute to agency-wide thought leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, and tools that enhance client service and team effectiveness.

What You Bring

  • Experience supporting executive thought leadership programs, including bylined articles, speaking engagements, conference presentations and media interviews.
  • Understanding of complex B2B purchasing processes, long sales cycles, and communications strategies designed to influence stakeholders over time rather than drive immediate consumer action.
  • Strong research and interviewing skills with the ability to extract meaningful insights from highly technical subject matter experts.
  • Experience supporting clients in B2B industries such as technology, manufacturing, industrial, energy or infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with employee communications initiatives that promote engagement, awareness, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • A proven ability to consistently meet deadlines, exceed client expectations, and exercise sound judgment and discretion.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of public relations experience, with a strong emphasis on B2B communications.
  • Bachelors degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Agency experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting executive communications, thought leadership, and media relations programs.
