Job Title: Project Engineer 3Job Description

The Project Engineer 3 plays a key role in evaluating project feasibility by estimating quantities and costs of materials, equipment, and labor. This position combines strong engineering knowledge with expertise in building and construction, public safety, and security. The role requires critical thinking, sound decision-making, and the ability to oversee complex infrastructure projects while also coordinating closely with supply chain, purchasing, and logistics functions to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials.

Responsibilities
  • Design and supervise the construction of infrastructure projects, including roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and water supply and sewage systems.
  • Estimate quantities and costs of materials, equipment, and labor to determine overall project feasibility and support accurate budgeting.
  • Evaluate the cost effectiveness, timing, reliability, and safety of various design models to recommend optimal solutions for each project.
  • Analyze and evaluate project impacts related to government regulations, public safety requirements, and potential environmental hazards.
  • Prepare and present public reports, maps, and engineering drawings to communicate project plans and progress to stakeholders.
  • Create sketches, engineering drawings, and perform common engineering computations to support design and construction activities.
  • Use computer applications related to the engineering field to model, analyze, and document project work.
  • Coordinate across suppliers, facilities, purchasing teams, and international partners to ensure materials and equipment are available when needed.
  • Support inventory management, forecasting, and shortage mitigation activities to keep projects on schedule.
  • Collaborate with logistics and freight partners to plan and manage shipments, including large, heavy, or global shipments.
  • Contribute to the development of dashboards, tools, and processes that help prevent recurring supply chain issues impacting projects.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 5–7 years of experience in engineering, with responsibility for project feasibility, design, and construction oversight.
  • 2–3+ years of supply chain experience, including exposure to forecasting, purchasing, procurement, logistics, and material planning.
  • Strong creativity, with the ability to develop practical and innovative engineering solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting project information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to evaluate design options and resolve technical and operational issues.
  • Detail-oriented mindset and ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • Ability to create sketches, engineering drawings, and perform common engineering computations.
  • Ability to prepare and present public reports, maps, and drawings to plan and communicate project details.
  • Previous experience using computer applications related to the engineering field.
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems, inventory management, forecasting, shortages, purchasing and procurement, expediting, material planning, logistics, and freight.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Comfort with learning and working in multiple proprietary or homegrown systems.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively across suppliers, facilities, purchasing teams, and international partners.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Automotive or manufacturing industry experience.
  • Experience with large, heavy, or global shipments, including air versus ocean freight and cross-border logistics.
  • Experience creating dashboards, tools, or processes to prevent recurring supply chain issues.
  • Exposure to CPI/continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with product or engineering problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with formal project or program management practices.
  • Quality engineering experience, especially when combined with solid supply chain experience.
Work Environment

This role operates in a professional engineering environment that combines office-based analytical work with oversight of construction and infrastructure projects. You will work extensively with engineering software, MRP/ERP systems, and proprietary or homegrown applications to plan, track, and manage projects and related supply chain activities. Collaboration is central to the environment, with regular interaction across suppliers, internal facilities, purchasing teams, logistics partners, and international colleagues. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
