Job description

Infrastructure Engineer

Join our growing global Infrastructure Services Group (ISG) and play a key role in designing, building, and supporting modern infrastructure environments for clients across the US and Europe! As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will work with a highly skilled team on a mix of cloud, hybrid, and on-prem solutions, contributing to migrations, modernization initiatives, and advanced troubleshooting.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy variety, hands-on technical work, and the opportunity to grow into a Lead Engineer or Infrastructure Architect. You'll collaborate closely with teammates across Chicago and Athens while having access to strong mentorship, certification support, and a mature engineering ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Support: Deploy, configure, and maintain servers, storage, virtualization platforms, networking components, and cloud services across diverse client environments.
  • Cloud & Hybrid Environments: Lead or contribute to Azure and Microsoft 365 migrations, integrations, optimizations, and modernization initiatives.
  • Monitoring & Maintenance: Perform routine monitoring and health checks across client environments.
  • Backup Operations:
    • Monitor daily backup jobs and replication tasks.
    • Escalate and assist in remediation of failed backups.
    • Validate backup integrity as requested and maintain related documentation.
  • Incident Response: Lead complex escalations, coordinate with internal teams and vendors, and document post-incident findings.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation and configuration records.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with Managed Services, NOC, and ISG teams to ensure seamless service delivery and operational continuity.
  • Client Interaction: Provide professional, timely communication and support for client tickets and project tasks, primarily remote with occasional onsite work.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering or systems administration.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft 365, Azure administration, and identity services.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related Windows infrastructure services.
  • Strong proficiency in Windows Server (2012–2025) and associated infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, NPS, and file services.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (preferably VMware & Hyper-V).
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls).
  • Experience with MFA platforms (Duo, Azure MFA).
  • Experience using RMM tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure issues and escalate when required.
  • Experience documenting processes and creating knowledge base content.
  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and committed to ongoing learning.
  • Ability to work in a global team and support after-hours tasks when required.
  • Experience and willingness to work on an on-call rotation.
  • Familiarity with backup technologies and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus (Microsoft, VMware, CompTIA, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow structured processes.
  • Ability to work within a global team and support after-hours tasks as needed for international clients.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Azure Administrator or Azure Fundamentals certification.
  • VMware Datacenter (VCP-DCV) certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with ITGlue documentation.
  • Experience participating in or leading infrastructure projects.
Benefits
  • Private health insurance.
  • Professional development and certification support.
  • Collaborative, growth-oriented work environment.
  • Catered lunch and complimentary beverages.
Career Path

This role offers a progression path toward Lead ISG Engineer or Infrastructure Architect roles based on demonstrated technical leadership, solution design capability, and consistent delivery excellence.
