ASSOCIATE ENGINEER / ENGINEER INTERN (EI)
Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Under supervision, performs engineering work in designing and supervising the construction
and maintenance of roads, utilities, general construction, and capital improvement projects.
Performs work involving the planning, design and execution of the professional and
construction services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides technical and administrative assistance to other project management and
operating divisions. Perform a variety of field surveys, investigations, and
compilation of engineering data.
2. Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with policies, procedures and
applicable laws including training in job skills; planning, assigning and directing
work.
3. Enforce safety rules and encourage safety application for employees, conforming to
the safety guidelines set by the Company.
4. Confers with upper management to keep them informed on key issues and progress
toward objectives and to gain their support and approval; makes recommendations
to assist management in making needed improvements.
5. Assist in planning, assigning and supervising a staff of technical assistants in the
preparation of design criteria, designs specifications, plans, investigations, cost
estimates, tabulation of contract bids, contract payments and related work.
6. Performs a review of hydraulic, roadway, utilities, commercial site plan, residential
subdivisions, and other engineering designs.
7. Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with policies, procedures and
applicable laws including training in job skills; planning, assigning and directing
work.
8. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

Employee shall have some supervisory responsibilities specifically related to the supervision
of other staff in relation to the same type of engineering and project management functions
that this position is primarily responsible for performing.

effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients,
customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modem algebra, and

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished
in written, oral, or diagram formats.

Under direction where a definite objective is set up and the employee plans and arranges own
work, referring only unusual cases to supervisor.

manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work; may also occasionally assist in the
