About the Position: Itron is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the Temetra development team. In this role you will help design, build, and support a market‑leading meter data management platform that processes information from millions of connected devices worldwide.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain high‑quality backend and/or full‑stack components for the Temetra web application.
  • Deliver scalable, reliable, and secure software solutions that support utility customers managing millions of connected devices.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, design technical solutions, and deliver business value in an agile environment.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision‑making, helping shape the future direction of the platform.
  • Improve system performance, reliability, maintainability, and code quality through continuous enhancement and modernization initiatives.
  • Take ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design through deployment and operational support.
  • Participate in monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, and production issue resolution to support a DevOps culture.
  • Partner with product, project, and customer‑facing teams to deliver innovative solutions that address evolving utility industry needs.
  • Mentor and support fellow engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and best‑practice adoption.
  • Champion customer‑centric thinking by ensuring software quality, operational excellence, and positive user experiences.
  • Participate in daily releases and continuous delivery processes to ensure rapid and reliable deployment of new capabilities.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong experience designing and developing Java‑based applications.
  • Experience building and maintaining web applications and RESTful services.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in agile software development teams.
  • Experience operating within DevOps environments and supporting production systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical thinking, and debugging capabilities.
  • Experience working in Linux‑based development and deployment environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership and accountability for deliverables.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and delivering value to customers.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience with Spring Framework and related Java ecosystem technologies.
  • Front‑end development using JavaScript and modern web frameworks.
