Position Overview

The Hotel Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Engineering/Maintenance department to ensure the hotel’s physical assets are maintained to the highest standards. This role supervises maintenance staff, coordinates preventative maintenance, and responds to facility issues to ensure a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for guests and associates.


Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train maintenance team members, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to brand standards
  • Inspect hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces, to identify maintenance needs
  • Coordinate and perform preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, kitchen equipment, and other building systems
  • Respond promptly to guest and associate maintenance requests, ensuring timely resolution
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment servicing
  • Assist with scheduling and assigning daily tasks for maintenance staff
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, fire codes, and OSHA requirements
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of tools, parts, and maintenance supplies
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and projects
  • Assist in managing departmental budgets and controlling maintenance costs
  • Support energy conservation initiatives and sustainability programs
  • Ensure hotel grounds and exterior areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained
  • Communicate effectively with Front Office, Housekeeping, and other departments to maintain smooth hotel operations
  • Notify management of major repairs, system failures, or safety concerns
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of maintenance experience required; hotel or hospitality experience preferred
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of maintenance issues
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer skills required for logging work orders and maintenance systems
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Work Environment
  • Work performed throughout hotel property including guest rooms, public areas, mechanical rooms, and outdoor areas
  • Frequent interaction with guests, vendors, and hotel staff
  • Fast-paced environment requiring problem-solving, adaptability, and attention to detail

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs for extended periods
  • Frequent use of hands and tools for repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to approximately 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to work in varying conditions including heat, cold, and confined spaces
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
