Job Summary

Under the direction of the Deputy Athletics Director for Operations & Strategy, the Senior Associate Athletics Director provides executive leadership and strategic oversight for athletics facilities, venue operations, capital planning, construction management, camps and auxiliary programming, and assigned sport programs. The position serves as a key member of the Athletics Department Senior Leadership Team and plays a critical role in advancing the department's operational effectiveness, long-term infrastructure goals, and strategic priorities.

This position is responsible for the planning, development, execution, and stewardship of athletics facilities and capital projects, including facility renovations, infrastructure improvements, deferred maintenance initiatives, and new construction. The Senior Associate Athletics Director serves as the department's primary liaison with campus planning, facilities management, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with university objectives.

The position provides executive oversight of assigned athletics facilities and venue operations, including facility scheduling, event management, third-party rentals, championships, camps and clinics, emergency preparedness, risk management, and operational planning. The role is responsible for maximizing facility utilization, supporting revenue-generating opportunities, and ensuring athletics facilities provide a safe, functional, and high-quality experience for student-athletes, coaches, staff, spectators, and external users.

In addition, the Senior Associate Athletics Director serves as the sport supervisor for assigned athletics programs, providing leadership, guidance, and accountability to head coaches and staff while promoting student-athlete welfare, competitive excellence, academic achievement, and compliance with NCAA, conference, university, and departmental regulations.

As a member of the department's senior leadership team, the Senior Associate Athletics Director contributes to organizational planning, policy development, budget strategy, resource allocation, and cross-functional initiatives that advance the mission of Long Beach State Athletics. The position requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, project management expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to effectively manage complex projects, stakeholder relationships, and organizational priorities within a dynamic NCAA Division I environment.

• Athletics Facilities, Events, & Venue Operations. Review facility utilization, revenue, expense, and operational performance reports to inform strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
• Sport Supervision & Program Oversight. Supervise coaching staff and promote their professional growth, while advocating for student-athlete welfare, balancing academic success, athletic performance, and personal development.
• Senior Leadership Team & Strategic Initiatives. n a manner consistent with department and University objectives and initiatives, support strategic goals and objectives to achieve accountability and efficient stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human).
• Camps, Clinics, & Auxiliary Revenue Programs.
• External Partnerships, Community Relations & Stakeholder Management.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU MPP Compensation Summary Range: The MPP Comp Summary Range for this position is $10,555 - $15,833 per month.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of related experience required. Previous experience working in a Division I environment preferred.

Prior NCAA Division I collegiate or professional athletics preferred.

Ability to work a non-standard work week including nights, weekends & holidays is required.

Licenses

Valid CA driver's license required.
