What You Will Be Doing:
As the Industrial Engineer for Yancey Engineered Solutions, you will design, implement, and sustain processes and systems that improve safety, quality, and productivity. You will also work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, energy, and other commodities. You will manage, track, and control operations as well as manage performance improvement processes.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:
  • Prepare and distribute engineering data to the manufacturing area to ensure the complete transfer of information from design engineering to manufacturing technicians in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and provide engineering support to ensure customer products are manufactured and processes are operating economically and in control management goals and quality expectations. Analyze deviations. Develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Review customer delivery projects for raw materials, indirect materials, and consumables required in manufacturing. Ensure the raw materials, indirect material, and consumables are ordered, delivered, and available to the manufacturing technicians in a timely manner to ensure continuous manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop equipment and tooling justifications, quotation requests, acceptance criteria, and purchasing documentation. Review quotations, support vendor selections, and ensure tooling and equipment received meets acceptance criteria, quality expectations, and is installed and commissioned per schedule.
  • Develop and implement approved improvement projects involving process control, equipment, capacity and productivity targeting quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Assist production supervisors in trouble-shooting process and quality problems. Perform root cause analysis, develop and implement countermeasures based on PDCA process.
  • Write work instructions and assist in training of work instructions.
  • Develop specifications for new equipment, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) requirements, and operating work instructions.
  • Support equipment installation, process description, and operational/performance qualification activities for manufacturing equipment and manufacturing processes. Generate all related documentation in compliance with internal requirements.
  • Analyze plant layout and propose improvements for manufacturing flow.
  • Assess and measure labor content to set process standards and evaluate variances.
  • Assist business areas in the creation of time-based Standard Work for all tasks and activity.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop technical solutions to manufacturing problems, finding solutions that are thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Apply statistical tools to complex problems and teach statistical tools to others as required.
  • Play a leadership role in the Plant Safety Program.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of YES.
  • Know YES's Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies and be able to fully discuss their importance and how they impact work.
  • Additional duties as assigned by manager.
Education/Experience:
  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree (concentration in manufacturing / tooling is preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a commensurate level of experience with related productions.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
  • Developed knowledge of and skill with using statistical tools, such as design of experiments (DOE), 6 Sigma, and/or Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Advanced knowldge, participation, and leading others in the use of Continuous Process Improvement processes, including Kaizen, VSM, SMED, PDCA.
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD software or other engineering design and graphics software.
  • Advanced logical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to develop, analyze, and draw conclusions to problems.
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer and other systems, emphasizing MS Office products, PLC's, and equipment control systems.
  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, working with vendors, customers, and employees.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of and skill with using statistical tools such as 5S-6S methods, Toyota Production System tools, Kaizen & Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge, participation, and leading others in the use of Continuous Improvement processes including Kaizen, PDCA, Root cause analysis & corrective action methods.
Environmental Job Requirements:Environment:
  • Most of your time is spent standing/walking.
  • Willing to work in extreme weather conditions and around loud noises.

Physical:
  • Will require appropriate Personal Protection Equipment to be worn.

Travel:
  • Typically requires travel 10% of the time.
