Job description

Sr. Engineering Project Manager

Thrush Aircraft offers a unique opportunity for engineers. Work at Thrush requires engineers to address different aspects of R&D, design, test, analysis, and production support, all within an aerospace environment. Each engineer is creatively challenged to find the most efficient solution. Our engineering tasks frequently require individuals to expand beyond a particular discipline to develop the most elegant solution, optimizing designs across multiple sub-systems.

We are looking for a highly organized individual with aircraft design experience to manage our design engineering team in Albany, GA, on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities include:

Manage the design engineering team. Create and maintain project schedules for engineering projects related to design, development, and manufacturing. Presenting and coordinating project schedule with other departments of the organization. Manage program interfaces with the FAA and DERs. Lead departmental and business-wide improvement initiatives. Ensure interdepartmental processes are effective and timely. Hire, train, and develop personnel and improve performance.

Reports to VP – Engineering at Thrush Aircraft.

Education requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline and 10 years of relevant experience; or master’s degree with more than 5 years of relevant experience.

Job Requirements :

Management experience of at least 5 years

Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD and EPDM (required), and Microsoft Office tools

Knowledge of ANSI/ASME Y14.5 drafting standards and GD&T/FT&A

Fatigue and Stress knowledge with SolidWorks Simulation

Aircraft integration and certification experience

FAR Part 23 or 25 certification knowledge and experience

Systems engineering expertise

Comprehensive working knowledge of engineering principles, repair and fabrication practices, aviation hardware, and general aircraft maintenance operations

Must be a self-starter who is adaptable, highly motivated, able to work under pressure, and can work with minimal or no supervision.

Knowledge of aircraft design concepts, industry design standards, and FAA regulations

Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral

Ability to coordinate effectively with FAA, DERs, and customers

Ability to communicate effectually during design review meetings.

Preferred Skills And Experience:

A&P/IA Mechanic with small aircraft experience

Pilot

Essential Duties :

Must work well with a team — a critical component of this position.

Oversee execution of project plans

Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors

Ensure accuracy and timeliness of design releases

Develop policies, procedures, and processes to improve departmental performance

Manage budgets, schedules, systems, and resources effectively
