Demilitarization Support Specialist

LOCATION: Redstone Arsenal

CLEARANCE: Ability to Obtain Secret

JOB STATUS: Full Time

TRAVEL: 10%

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Demilitarization Support Specialist at the Propulsion and Structures Technology (PST) on Redstone Arsenal, AL supporting the Army Division. The position supports the DEVCOM AvMC research, test and development for improvement and integration for the Army.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • High School
  • 5 Years of experience in any Military Occupational Series, demilitarization, Static rocket motor testing documentation or Ground-based weapon systems or material maintenance specialties.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide an array of support for the research and development, sustainment, and demilitarization of propellant and explosive/energetic materials for solid, liquid/gel, and/or air-breathing missiles.
  • Analyze and resolve research, engineering, technical, scientific, business, and/or management problems.
  • Gather requirements and information from users, define work problems, and if feasible, plan, design, and direct the implementation of automated systems and procedures to resolve the problems.
  • Perform professional work and technical support to the AMCOM Demil Program Office and the AvMC for the purpose of facilitating technology integration and transition to demil operations at Army depots and enhance operational capability for demil projects as required.
  • May support the development of the work breakdown structures, schedules, and risk development for determining demil program requirements.
  • May provide review and analysis to support the continuing development of new and improved technologies for the use in demil of obsolete, tactical missiles and other DoD munitions stored at various depots and ammunition plants.
  • May provide technical/programmatic support to investigate and assess closed disposal development, R3 technology development, R3 technology transition and insertion, technology implementation, and related pre-planned product improvements to demil technologies to reduce program risks, enhance facility capabilities, ensure environmental compliance, increase reliability and maintainability, reduce the total cost of ownership, and optimize R3 throughputs.
  • May perform data evaluation, interpretation, and documentation of different types of systems.
  • May use software to analyze test data and make propulsion system performance predictions.
  • May design, plan, and perform on a variety of different systems including facilities and structures used for tactical missile propulsion research, development, and demilitarization.
  • May work with manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer representatives for missile programs.
  • May listen to and follow directions, learn, and operate while maintaining a safe and organized work area, and communicate effectively in a fluid, multi-tasked, team environment.
  • May provide rapid fabrication, test design, reverse engineering, static testing, data analysis, and reporting of many propulsion and missile related test articles.
