Description

Heavy Diesel Field Mechanic:

The Heavy Diesel Field Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related systems in trucks and heavy machinery ensuring they operate efficiently and safely. Responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs to trucks and mostly Caterpillar equipment in shop or various field sites.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular maintenance and inspections on heavy construction equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and engine issues on a wide variety of heavy duty trucks, trailers, and proficiency on Caterpillar equipment.
  • Proficient in repairing diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, fuel systems, turbochargers, brakes, hydraulics systems and exhaust systems.
  • Inspect, diagnose and repair suspensions systems, braking systems and related components to ensure safety and performance.
  • Collaborate with operators and project managers to schedule maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all repair work.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including tools and equipment.
  • Any additional tasks or projects assigned by their supervisor


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics for repair purposes.
  • Proficient in using various diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; further technical training is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license (preferably a CDL) and ability to operate heavy machinery.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Successful candidates must complete a drug screening and background check prior to employment
