Job description

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking two Desktop Engineers to support a healthcare infrastructure initiative focused on network readiness for enterprise printer deployments across multiple healthcare facilities. The selected consultants will be responsible for activating network connectivity for approximately 450 printer locations by validating cabling, identifying patch panel terminations, connecting switch ports, testing connectivity, and documenting network configurations.

Responsibilities:
  • Activate and validate approximately 450 network jacks supporting printer deployments
  • Trace network connections from wall jack locations to network closets and patch panels
  • Identify corresponding patch panel ports and establish switch connectivity
  • Perform switch port provisioning and activation activities
  • Validate Layer 1 and Layer 2 network connectivity
  • Verify devices receive network connectivity and appropriate addressing
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues and coordinate corrective actions
  • Partner with onsite IT teams during deployment and validation activities
  • Document jack numbers, switch ports, physical locations, and validation results
  • Maintain accurate records for operational support and future troubleshooting
  • Support overall printer network readiness activities prior to deployment

Qualifications:
  • Three or more years of experience in network engineering or infrastructure support
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling environments
  • Experience with patch panels, switch ports, and network connectivity validation
  • Knowledge of Layer 1 and Layer 2 networking fundamentals
  • Experience troubleshooting physical and logical network connectivity issues
  • Experience with switch provisioning and port activation
  • Strong documentation and asset tracking skills
  • Ability to work independently across multiple locations
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to travel between local customer locations
Preferred Qualifications:
