Job description

Senior Full Stack Web Developer

Location: Phoenix, AZ/Austin, TX

SiteOwl (https://siteowl.com/) is a B2B SaaS application that enables customers to design, install, and maintain physical security systems. We are a small, startup team of 15 that was recently acquired by the multinational company ASSA ABLOY. This means we offer the feel of a small team with the resources of a large company. Our primary customers are system integrators and corporate physical security teams. The best analogy for our product is Google Maps for physical security systems. System designers upload their real-world floor plans, then drag various types of pins representing cameras, card readers, alarms, or other devices onto the map and edit details about those devices. Technicians then use those designs to install or update the security system using our mobile apps in the field. Offline is a primary use case for our customers who use our mobile applications while at Wi-Fi and cellular-challenged locations.

What you will be doing:

We have recently completed a rebuild of our existing application with modern technologies. Using Typescript, React, MAUI, Capacitor, and Supabase, we have built a small, debt-free, AI-friendly codebase that runs across web, mobile, and the back end. This allows us to be agile and ship often. We have a long backlog of new features we plan to add to the application, including building AI agents that can help design physical security systems, project manage the installation of those systems, and keep up with the maintenance and compliance of those systems.

Key areas you will contribute to in the role include:

  • Build software that impacts how physical security infrastructure is deployed and maintained at hospitals, universities, financial institutions, and Fortune 500 campuses.
  • Help add new features to SiteOwl's existing applications using Typescript, React, Material UI, Capacitor, Supabase, and Node.
  • Create back-end RESTful APIs with documentation that will be consumed by our customers.
  • Implement responsive front-end features that work in desktop and mobile environments.
  • Write automated tests and perform code reviews.
  • Work with our product team to help design and specify features our customers love.
  • Work with our engineering leadership to help architect those features using the right tools and libraries.
  • Work with AI development tools to implement those features into our codebase.

What we are looking for:

  • Knowledgable - You are a real pro and deeply understand web development and it's ecosystem.
  • Intellectually Curious - You are constantly learning and working to improve yourself.
  • Entrepreneurial - You enjoy wearing many hats and hustling to get things done.
  • Problem Solver - You are a critical thinker who brings solutions, not just problems to the table.
  • Hard Working - You aren't afraid of a tough deadline.
  • Scrappy & Fast - You like finding creative ways to quickly move projects forward.
  • Good Communicator - You easily explain complex technical issues to a non-technical audience.
  • Team Player - You put team success first and have a high degree of personal character.
  • Accountable - You take ownership and have pride in your work.
  • Multi-tasker - You can manage time and projects proficiently, and you have a high degree of organization.
  • Ability to travel (up to 10%) and meet to the requirements of customers.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. of materials for presentations.

Education and/or experience:

  • Your background includes a College/University degree (preference for specialization in a technical field, such as Computer Science), or have work experience commensurate with, minimum high school/GED diploma.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional development experience.
  • A solid foundation of HTML, CSS, Javascript, HTTP, and Restful APIs.
  • Experience shipping rich apps using React.
  • Experience architecting and shipping backend RESTful APIs using Node.js.
  • Familiarity with front-end and backend performance best practices.
  • Experience with SQL and SQL databases.
  • Experience with common software development tools and processes.
  • Experience with agentic AI development tools like Cursor or Claude Code.
  • Experience with DevOps and working with cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience with React Native, Android, or iOS development is a plus.
  • An eye for quality UI/UX is a plus.

Why Join SiteOwl?

  • Growth Potential: This role is designed to evolve into a full-cycle sales closing position within the first year, offering opportunities for professional development and advancement.
  • Innovative Culture: Be part of a company that values innovation, adaptability, and creative problem-solving.
  • Impact: Play a critical role in shaping the future of security management technology.
  • Collaborative Team: Join a team of passionate professionals dedicated to success and mutual growth.
