The Role:Reporting to the Senior Manager of Design Engineering, the Senior Design Engineer is responsible for designing and improving custom industrial heating systems that meet customer, regulatory, and performance requirements. Based in our Ogden, Utah facility, this role develops electrical and mechanical designs, creates engineering documentation, and collaborates with manufacturing and cross-functional teams to bring projects from concept through production.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, driving product improvements, and delivering high-quality engineered solutions in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Conducts engineering studies on design for products, associated and subsystems components, and structures.
  • Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to design.
  • Applies engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes.
  • Conducts analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop design for products, equipment, machines, associated and subsystems components, and structures.
  • Creates and releases Engineering Drawings, Bills of Material (BOM's), ASME calculations and Routings.
  • Analyzes data to determine feasibility of product proposal; analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
  • Develops custom procedures as needed.
  • May determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops design, design modifications as required.
  • Prepares or directs preparations of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics; coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system.
  • Plans and develops experimental test programs; prevents or eliminates defects in new or existing products, evaluates results.
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Studies engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technological changes and developments in industry.
  • Completes work 'on-time' and within budget.
  • Ensures product fit, form and function meet customer requirements.

Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • At least 5+ years of experience with electrical/control design engineering, including PLC programming, is required.
  • Working knowledge of PC software applications; AutoCAD experience required, Solid Modeling and 3D Design preferred.
  • Proven working experience presenting data findings to the broader organization (employees, managers, and industry peers) while communicating the next best steps for the business.
  • Working experience with system-specific pressure vessel, piping, pump, fluid transfer, and heat transfer design experience.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as heavy equipment manufacturing, welding technology, control panel, materials technology, manufacturing methods technology.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • ASME (Section VIII & Section I), PED, ATEX, NEC, NACE, ANSI, and TEMA code experience and familiarity preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, both now and in the future.
