Broadcast Engineer

Location: Boca Raton, FL (Onsite)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Tuesday-Sunday, 11AM-8PM (onsite). Occasional schedule adjustments, holidays, and on-call support may be required based on business needs.


On Cue Hire is seeking a Broadcast Engineer to join a leading television news organization in Boca Raton, Florida. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and advancing the technical infrastructure that supports live news broadcasts, studio operations, control rooms, transmission systems, streaming platforms, and special event coverage.


The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with extensive experience supporting live television news operations, broadcast systems, IP-based workflows, and mission-critical production environments. This individual will serve in a technical capacity, partnering with Engineering, Production, Operations, and IT teams to ensure the highest levels of system reliability and performance.


Core Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and routine maintenance on all broadcast, production, and transmission systems.
  • Serve as Project Manager for engineering projects and system enhancements.
  • Plan and execute software and firmware updates on equipment and systems.
  • Design, test, integrate, and commission new broadcast equipment and technologies.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, system diagrams, and operating procedures.
  • Assist Operations and Production teams in identifying workflow improvements and developing technical solutions.
  • Coordinate with Networking and IT teams on service requests and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Monitor facility power, environmental systems, and HVAC infrastructure, escalating critical issues as necessary.
  • Perform system configuration changes and testing in preparation for special events and live productions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues impacting studios, control rooms, production workflows, and live broadcasts.
  • Maintain compliance with broadcast industry standards, operational best practices, and company policies.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineering staff as needed.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of broadcast engineering experience supporting live television news, sports broadcasting, or other mission-critical live production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast audio and video standards.
  • Strong understanding of A/V and networking signal flow.
  • Advanced networking and IT skills as they relate to broadcast operations.
  • Experience supporting streaming content delivery and related technologies including TCP, UDP, MPEG-TS, SRT, Zixi, IGMP/PIM, Layer 2/3 networking, subnetting, VLANs, OTT platforms, and cloud-based master control environments.
  • Experience with Dante, SDI, NDI, networking technologies, ENPS, and OnCue Prompters.
  • Experience and knowledge of multimedia file formats and codecs.
  • Ability to maintain composure and make sound decisions during high-pressure and live broadcast situations.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and project management abilities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing NAS and SAN storage environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting NewTek TriCaster systems.
  • Experience supporting Behringer Wing consoles and traditional analog audio systems.
  • Experience with RTS ODIN, Omneo, RVON, and related intercom technologies.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based broadcast, playout, and streaming environments.
  • SBE certification or other relevant technical certifications preferred.
