Job description

JOB DETAILS Department: Interdisciplinary Simulation FTE: 1.0 (80 hours per pay period) Workdays: Monday - Friday Shift(s): Days/Evenings Shift Length: 8 hours Location: In-Person Purpose of this position: The Lead Simulation Specialist will lead Sim Specialists in the Simulation Center on how to operate and maintain the ISEC equipment under the direction of the Simulation Center Manager. This position will also assist in the design, implementation and evaluation of simulation activities and course outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee all routine maintenance, integration, repair, and ordering for all high and low fidelity manikins and simulator equipment
  • Oversee operation and usage of computers, high and low fidelity manikins, procedural skills trainers, virtual reality trainers, support equipment, & related operating software
  • Maintain technical expertise for operation, instruction and troubleshooting of all Simulation Center equipment and technology
  • Maintain timely set-up, supply stocking and turnover for daily simulation and educational activities
  • Assist with design, implementation, and evaluation of simulation courses to ensure quality education experiences
  • Oversee all simulation equipment orientation and competency evaluation for Simulation staff and users on appropriate use and care for simulation equipment during education sessions
  • Identify, implement, and lead opportunities for improvement and innovation in the Simulation Center
  • Act in accordance with the ISEC policies and procedures, and enforces them when necessary
  • Perform operational management as needed, including scheduling, documentation, communications, record keeping, and data management & reporting
  • Assist with accreditation processes and research studies when necessary
  • Maintain data security and confidentiality in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local guidelines
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, current literature, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in simulation
  • Other duties as assigned
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • Background in computer use, set up, trouble shooting, and maintenance of technology equipment and / or manikins
  • One year previous Simulation Specialist or Technician experience in operation and maintenance of high and low fidelity simulation equipment and simulation AV technology and production
  • Experience with multimedia equipment and digital audiovisual technology and production
  • OR-
  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Laerdal Technician certification of one or more simulators
  • Health professions degree or experience
  • Experience with healthcare simulation technology
  • Previous teaching experience in health professions
  • 2 or more years in a technology related field
  • Organization and project management experience
  • Video processing & editing experience
  • Current CHOS Certification (Certified Health Care Simulation Operation Specialist)
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
  • Ability to improvise and adapt to highly dynamic environments, and learn new skills
  • Demonstrate proficiency with operation and instruction of simulation technology, maintenance, and AV
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Windows
