Job description

Intuit is transforming. QuickBooks is expanding beyond accounting into an AI-driven business platform that supports customers end-to-end - from Lead to Cash to Accounting. As our product ambition grows, so does our expectation for Design.

We are evolving from delivering strong individual features to delivering strong features within a cohesive, high-quality platform. Design has to be a strategic discipline for the company to succeed. Our goal is not to replace feature excellence, but to elevate it - strengthening craft, consistency, and systems thinking so experiences scale with clarity and trust across products and customer journeys.

The Director of Design for Services will lead a multi-layered organization of approximately 55 designers across Money, Capital, Lending, and Workforce Solutions. This portfolio is the fastest growing business segment inside of QuickBooks and is one of our 3 company Big Bets. This manager-of-managers role is responsible for raising the bar on craft and quality, strengthening leadership capability, and ensuring that innovation and platform cohesion advance together.

Responsibilities

Deliver Excellence at the Feature and Portfolio Level

  • Ensure Services teams continue to deliver high-impact, customer-centered features.
  • Raise the quality bar across interaction design, visual craft, content clarity, and AI-powered experiences.
  • Embed strong critique practices and measurable quality standards across teams.

Uplevel the Design Practice

  • Lead and develop a team of design managers and senior ICs within a ~55-person organization.
  • Build leadership depth, strong operating rhythms, and a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Advance design maturity in areas such as systems thinking, end-to-end journey design, and platform coherence.
  • Partner with broader Design leadership to shape the next chapter of Intuit's design practice.

Drive Cohesion Across the Platform

  • Ensure Services experiences feel seamless within the QuickBooks ecosystem.
  • Champion shared systems, patterns, and standards while maintaining high craft and contextual excellence.
  • Balance speed of innovation with long-term experience integrity.

Act as a Strategic Partner

  • Partner closely with VP-level Product, Engineering, and Business leaders to shape roadmaps and investment decisions.
  • Influence how AI-driven capabilities are expressed in intuitive, trustworthy, and human-centered ways.
  • Leverage research, experimentation, and performance insights to continuously improve experience outcomes.

Lead Through Growth and Change

  • Provide clarity and direction during periods of scale and transformation.
  • Align diverse teams around a shared vision for customer experience and design quality.
  • Represent Design as a strategic voice in executive forums.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in product design, with significant experience leading managers and scaling multi-layered teams.
  • Proven experience leading organizations of 30+ designers in complex, multi-product environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to elevate craft and quality while delivering at speed.
  • Strong systems thinker with experience contributing to shared design systems and platform strategies.
  • Track record of strategic partnership with senior leaders (VP+).
  • Experience designing AI-powered or data-driven experiences.
  • Strong organizational leadership skills, executive presence, and influence across matrixed teams.
