Job Description

The Intermediate Signage CAD Designer supports transportation and roadway infrastructure projects by producing and maintaining detailed signage drawing packages in Hamilton, ON, Canada. This role operates within a hybrid work model and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams including traffic engineers, signage designers, and project stakeholders.

The position focuses on corridor-level infrastructure programs, contributing to design development, revisions, and coordination across project disciplines. Responsibilities span the preparation of sign placement plans, schedules, and documentation aligned with project requirements and drafting standards. The role also supports quality control, document management, and design consistency throughout project phases.

The ideal candidate has 3–7 years of CAD drafting experience in transportation or infrastructure environments, with exposure to roadway signage and multidisciplinary coordination in fast-paced project delivery settings.

  • Produce permanent signage drawing packages, including sign placement plans, schedules, legends, detailed notes, and supporting documentation.
  • Develop and maintain signage CAD drawings, including sign callouts, sign tables, details, notes, legends, and reference files.
  • Update and revise signage drawing packages throughout the project lifecycle to reflect design changes and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with signage designers, traffic engineers, and other project stakeholders to implement revisions and ensure design consistency across corridor-wide packages.
  • Maintain alignment and coordination between signage plans and related transportation/infrastructure disciplines.
  • Perform quality checks on drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, clarity, and compliance with project standards and specifications.
  • Verify drawing consistency, formatting, and adherence to established CAD standards and best practices.
  • Support project delivery by managing drawing updates, revisions, and document control requirements.
Qualifications

Required

  • 3–7+ years of CAD drafting and design experience in transportation, roadway, or infrastructure projects.
  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, or equivalent CAD platforms.
  • Experience preparing transportation-related drawing packages and technical design documentation.
  • Knowledge of roadway signage and traffic control drawings.
  • Strong understanding of drafting standards, drawing quality control, and documentation practices.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams including engineers and project stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

Assets

  • Experience working on corridor-wide transportation projects.
  • Familiarity with provincial or municipal transportation standards (e.g., signage guidelines, roadway standards).
  • Exposure to transportation engineering design workflows and infrastructure project delivery phases.
