Product Development Engineer

Design, Develop, and Launch Innovative Products from Concept to Production

Our client is seeking a Product Development Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team focused on developing innovative products and components for advanced manufacturing applications. This role offers the opportunity to work across the entire product development lifecycle, from concept generation and design validation through manufacturing launch and production support.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, collaborating with customers and manufacturing teams, and transforming innovative ideas into real-world products. This position combines product design, testing, validation, customer interaction, and project management, making it an excellent opportunity for engineers who want broad exposure to product development and engineering leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering projects from initial concept through production launch while ensuring project objectives, timelines, and quality requirements are achieved.
  • Collaborate with customer engineering teams, sales personnel, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to define product requirements and specifications.
  • Design, develop, and release 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation within internal and customer CAD systems.
  • Develop and execute validation plans, test procedures, fixtures, and reports to verify product performance and design integrity.
  • Design and launch new components and products for current and future applications.
  • Develop material specifications, product standards, and design requirements.
  • Serve as a technical resource for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide engineering support for product and manufacturing-related challenges.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while effectively communicating progress, risks, and milestones.
  • Maintain accurate product development records and support APQP activities.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and maintain project documentation according to customer requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, competitive products, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop expertise in manufacturing methods, materials, and product design best practices.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2-5 years of experience in product design, product development, or mechanical engineering
  • 2+yrs of automotive manufacturing experience 
  • Working knowledge of solid modeling and CAD software.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop products from concept through production.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and product development processes.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and developing mechanical products, components, or assemblies.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability principles.
  • Experience designing and fabricating test fixtures and laboratory equipment.
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and structured product development methodologies.
  • Experience with Creo, Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or similar CAD platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for engineering analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with testing, simulation, or validation software.
  • Understanding of laboratory measurement techniques and inspection methods.
  • Hands-on technical hobbies or interests involving fabrication, mechanics, model building, prototyping, or similar activities.
