Hatch is looking for a highly motivated Tailings Process/ Dewatering EIT to join our Tailings and Waste Management Group. The role will be in the Hatch Mississauga office.

Responsibilities

  • Work with project managers to accomplish various tasks associated with tailings process and optimization projects;
  • Design of tailings process systems and other relevant process units: conventional, non-conventional, hybrid-disposal, co-disposal, filtered tailings;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in sizing and selection of technology and equipment: thickening, classification, filtration, transport;
  • Familiar with deposition strategies and plans;
  • Specify and supervise tailings testwork;
  • Manage all parts of the process from design logistics, build commission, and operations;
  • Develop capital and operating cost estimates, technical specifications, and contract documentation;
  • Prepare mass and water balances surrounding a tailings process and transport system;
  • Develop and read drawings including process PFD's, PID's;
  • Develop general arrangement drawings, site plans;
  • Work with clients, vendors, and other contractors to complete project deliverables;
  • Participate in design and HAZOP reviews as required;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining/Materials/Metallurgical/Chemical/Mechanical/Civil/Process Engineering from an accredited university
  • 0-3 years experience or knowledge / education specializing in tailings process engineering design and construction
  • Operations or previous engineering design or construction experience is an asset
  • Demonstrate good written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer or eligible to obtain is required
  • Experience developing and reading drawings including process PFD's, P&ID's, General arrangement drawings, site plans
  • Solid report writing skills
  • AutoCAD/ Microstation
  • Ability to travel to client's offices, vendor offices, and to site for periods of time
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and/or experience with the following:
  • All types of tailings process system designs
  • Tailings process testwork specification and operating experience
  • Tailings testing and ability to interpret results and how it fits into the overall system design
  • Tailings processing plant design from concept to detailed engineering
  • Tailings process equipment specification, sizing, and selection
  • Tailings (conventional or non-conventional) transport technologies and distribution

Compensation:

Range: $82,000.00 - $84,000.00

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
