What You Will Do

Raytheon's Effector Analog & Power (EAP) Team is looking for mid-career engineers who have electronics knowledge to help design robust motor control systems.

The EAP Department is responsible for the development, from concept to integration, of Telemetry and Flight Termination products; power systems from all up round to the lowest level power regulation; servo electronics supporting all mechanical motion in our products and low noise mixed signal electronics that provides the analog to digital interface to our front-end sensors. Each of these products generally operates in lower power and voltage ranges less than 10kW and 1000V.

  • Design, analyze, simulate, test, and document power conversion (and related analog) circuitry. This circuitry will dominantly involve 3 phase inverter design, sensor interfacing and controller circuits. Main emphasis is on board-mounted power end use applications.
    Hands on drafting & designing at a circuit card level.
  • Help to see circuit card development through its design phases, from requirements definition through initial integration testing.
  • Drive to meet schedule concerns. Define schedules for circuit level tasking.
  • Guide ECAD drafters through layout and routing activities, with moderate support from senior engineers. Assist in layer stackup definition.
  • Lead small teams & participate as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) on Controls Hardware Electronics.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Advanced degree in STEM and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Design, analysis, test, and/or simulation experience with one or more of the following motor types is a plus: Brushed, BLDC or PMSM.
  • Experience using tools such as MATLAB, MathCAD, Mathematica, or other similar tools.
  • Experience with analog electronics design, including at least one of the following: FETs/BJTs, op-amp, high/low/band pass filters, clock/data termination, and comparator circuits.
  • Experience working in a lab setting and using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, frequency generators, power supplies and Data Acquisition Systems.
  • Familiarity with wide bandgap devices (SiC, GaN) in power electronics designs.
  • Design considerations for voltages > 400V and/or power > 10kW. Three-phase power systems, power factor control, and inverter/rectifier development.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering
  • A self-starter, a quick learner, be able to function in a dynamic environment, and have good time management skills. Should have an appreciation for how successful teams are structured.
  • Experience communicating and documenting technical topics at the small team level.
  • Experience in any one of the following:
  • Simulators such as SIMPLIS or SABER, or Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, and/or Hyperlynx.
  • Multi-level three phase Inverter Design for HV applications
  • Multi-isolated power systems design and component selection
  • Hardware in the loop testing setup and design experience
  • Military specifications.
  • Program management tools such as Earned Value.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
