Our Curriculum Splat Lab is a hands-on enrichment program that combines Play, Art, STEM, and Creativity to create engaging learning experiences for kids. Each session features interactive activities like spider puppets, splat silly putty, rainbow snow, slime, and cup castles. Splat Lab combines Montessori principles, experiential learning, youth development, and Universal Design for Learning. About You First and foremost, all Splat Lab staff must be fun and playful. You are highly detail-oriented and maybe a bit Type A. You live by the calendar, understand NYC geography, and the complexities of NYC schools. You enjoy problem-solving and figuring out ways to ensure our program implementation is not just good but spectacular.Position Summary The Office Operations Assistant Manager will serve as an anchor of our production space, ensuring daily operations run smoothly and are maintained at a high level. The core of the role focuses on optimizing systems, supervising ops assistants, and coordinating essential program logistics. This position offers an opportunity to grow into a larger, potentially full-time role in the future. It requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for improving efficiency while supporting educators and ensuring high-quality, fun, and unique programming.Key ResponsibilitiesManage Production Space & Team
  • Ensure the Program Manager, and Founder can completely rely on you to schedule deliveries, pick-ups, and ops staff so they can focus on other tasks
  • Must be available Monday-Friday and occasional weekends to coordinate or delegate Uber pick-ups and deliveries. Must be able to do early mornings, evenings and weekends seasonally.
  • Completely own scheduling part-time ops assistants to ensure packing and organizing of event materials and residency programs based on the calendar.
  • This includes up to 40 residency classes happening per week (materials sent once for 10-12 week cycles) and up to 15 pop-up events per month (more during May-June)
  • Maintain inventory, order supplies ahead of large cycle changes (Jan/ April/June/Sept)
  • Lead weekly production meeting of part-time assistants to share upcoming events, improve packing issues, and coordinate logistics
  • Assign maintenance tasks to assistants, including cleaning, material bag prep, unpacking, receiving deliveries, and space management
  • Hire and train new ops assistant as needed
Scheduling & Coordination with Program team
  • Work hand in hand with the Program Ops Manager to share staff, ensure supply delivery/pick-ups and get additional supplies to sites as needed
  • Coordinate pick-up and delivery ubers for materials that may occur throughout the day (could be 6:30am or 6pm)
  • Assist with camp materials and backend operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 5 years of experience in operations management
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Education, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supervising and coaching a team to gel and get results
  • Knowledge of art supplies and the ability to understand how kids interact with them will be important in this role
  • Ability to manage multiple programs, events, and logistics simultaneously.
  • Passion for process improvement, operational efficiency, and program excellence.
  • Experience in teaching and youth development is highly preferred but not required.
OnboardingThe first 3-4 weeks of this role will serve as a probationary period to determine if it's the right fit for both you and the organization. During this time, you'll start with 10-15 hours per week, with a gradual increase in responsibilities as you become familiar with the operations. You'll receive feedback and guidance to help refine your approach, with the goal of ramping up to the full expected hours and responsibilities as we assess your fit in the role. At the end of this period, we'll review your progress and discuss the potential for long-term growth within the organization.Application Process
