Job Summary
Xavier University of Louisiana is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Research Technician within the lab of Dr. Rami A. Al-Horani. We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to join our research team which exploits a highly integrated, multidisciplinary approach involving enzyme kinetics, molecular modeling, and biological testing to discover, design, and develop new therapeutics. This position is also anticipated to provide opportunities to learn and develop skills in new research areas.

Minimum Qualifications
MS degree in pharmaceutical sciences or biomedical sciences, or closely related fields is minimally required.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic skills in molecular biology, including culture of mammalian cells in vitro, immunohistochemistry, and imaging. Demonstrated ability to work with mice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities will be facilitating ongoing research. This will include assisting with animal studies, tissue harvesting, cell culture, antibody staining, and basic lab assays. Occasional work during evenings or weekends may be required. The research technician should demonstrate the ability to maintain good laboratory records, to assist in training other lab associates, and to maintain the highest standards of safe laboratory practices. The technician should also exhibit good verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills. The technician should also comply with all division, college and university rules and guidelines as detailed in the staff handbook.
