Internship Overview

TerraCycle is an environmentally friendly, highly publicized, fast-growth start-up company that creates consumer products from scrap materials. We seek an energetic artist with a passion for upcycling. Ideal creative interns are passionate, out of the box thinkers with a drive for exploring new ideas and dynamic collaboration. The Industrial Design team is seeking two (2) interns to collaborate on creative projects beginning in September.


Industrial Design Intern: Ideal interns are crafty, with a knack for seeing another persons’ trash as treasure. The Industrial Design intern will work on projects including gamified and engineered collection bins, upcycled and recycled products, upcycled art pieces, and DIY projects.


Artist Residency Intern: Art interns help the Industrial Design team develop concepts, art, and sculpture for some of the world’s largest brands, utilizing the companies’ own supply chain and consumer waste. The focus of this internship is on creating eco-minded pieces and experiences that help people understand that they too can eliminate the idea of waste.

Working directly with world-renowned artist EdE Sinkovics, you will assist in the creation of large-scale art pieces destined for high-profile upcoming exhibits and permanent displays. If you are exceptionally crafty, highly resourceful, and passionate about turning another person’s trash into world-class treasure, this role is for you. Experience with design and production tools a plus: woodshop, power tools, cutting tools, laser cutter, painting, and/or industrial sewing machine.


Internship Responsibilities

  • Work directly with team members to come up with creative and innovative ideas.
  • Support the creative process from ideation to production
  • Execute design concepts to fit the needs of the project and reflect company design standards
  • Own administrative responsibilities associated with projects
  • Additional projects as assigned
Requirements:

Internship Requirements

  • Must have proof of works
  • Must be able to commit to minimum 20 hours per week
  • Must be able to report to the office three (3) days per week

Internship Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Pursuing a degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Industrial Design or related field, preferred
  • If enrolled in a college or university, in good academic standing
  • Intermediate skill in Google Suite, specifically Slides
  • High level of effectiveness in written, oral and digital communication
