Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and documenting custom products and engineered solutions to meet customer requirements and manufacturing objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical design experience, proficiency in CAD software, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and revise layout, proposal, assembly, and detail drawings using CAD software to support customer requirements, manufacturing processes, and engineering specifications.
  • Organize, design, and detail custom and new product projects by reviewing proposals, gathering technical information, and performing required engineering calculations.
  • Evaluate design factors including manufacturability, cost, reliability, and maintainability while ensuring compliance with contractual specifications, performance requirements, and functional objectives.
  • Manage the overall design and execution of smaller projects and support larger projects by coordinating activities with Engineers, Designers, Drafters, CNC Machinists, and customers.
  • Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support production planning, procurement, and assembly operations.
  • Review and verify engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
  • Assist Engineers and Designers in the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of products and systems.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure designs are optimized for production efficiency and product quality.
  • Support design automation, product configuration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation and provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle.
Required QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD software, including the creation of parts, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Experience using 2D CAD software for drafting and technical documentation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with the ability to perform engineering calculations.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering documentation, and product development processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering drawings, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD amp;T), and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply complex technical concepts, product specifications, and specialized mechanical information.
  • Aptitude for supporting design automation and product configuration initiatives.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to review work for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and customer teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
