Mechanical Drafter

Job Description

This role focuses on drafting and designing HVAC systems for commercial and residential construction projects. You will support contractors who do not have in-house engineering capabilities by creating accurate HVAC and plumbing system designs. This is a trainable position, offering an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals who are eager to build a career in HVAC design.

Responsibilities

  • Draft HVAC systems for commercial construction projects in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Draft HVAC systems for residential construction projects, ensuring accurate layouts and coordination with other building systems.
  • Design and detail HVAC and plumbing systems for contractors who do not have in-house engineering resources.
  • Prepare clear and precise drafting and detailing documentation to support installation and construction activities.
  • Collaborate with internal design and engineering team members to ensure designs are accurate, feasible, and aligned with project requirements.
  • Apply knowledge from fluid and thermal coursework to support sound HVAC system design decisions.
  • Incorporate feedback from senior designers and engineers to refine and improve design quality.
  • Maintain organized project files and drawings to support efficient project workflows.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and developing expertise in HVAC system design.

Essential Skills

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in drafting or mechanical discipline.
  • Strong academic performance in fluid and thermal courses.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
