Position Summary

The Senior Civil Project Manager provides senior-level leadership and strategic oversight for TRICO’s Civil Project Team and is accountable for the successful pursuit, planning, execution, safety, and financial performance of civil construction projects.

This role combines advanced estimating expertise, disciplined project execution, and people leadership. The Senior Civil Project Manager sets clear expectations, ensures roles and responsibilities are understood, and builds a high-performing team through coaching, accountability, and ongoing development.

This position plays a key role in advancing TRICO’s profitability, long-term growth, and commitment to our mission of Building Beyond the Building.

What You’ll Do

Lead Project Acquisition and Estimating

•       Lead estimating efforts for complex civil projects, including self-perform work, subcontracted scopes, and general conditions

•       Review bids, scopes, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy, constructability, and risk alignment

•       Lead subcontractor bid analysis, negotiations, and buyout strategy

•       Support and lead client presentations, pursuits, and proposal development

•       Lead preconstruction planning and RFP development for negotiated and design-build work

•       Actively engage in industry organizations, trade groups, and community networks to support market presence, client development, and opportunity generation

Oversee Project Execution

·        Ensure disciplined use of project controls for RFIs, submittals, change orders, labor tracking, and production reporting

·        Maintain clear communication with internal leaders, field teams, subcontractors, and clients

·        Proactively manage schedules, budgets, logistics, and risk by identifying issues early, implementing corrective action ahead of impact, and escalating key risks and decisions to leadership as needed

Manage Financial Performance

·        Drive timely project buyout and establish clear financial targets

·        Improve and protect project margin through cost control, buyout savings, project execution excellence and appropriate risk management

·        Review job cost reports, billings, AR, and AP regularly and take action as needed

·        Establish project-specific financial goals and report results at project completion

Support Field Operations

·        Partner closely with Superintendents on manpower planning, sequencing, production and execution of the work

·        Conduct regular jobsite visits to support field leadership and reinforce expectations and safety

·        Serve as a visible leader in the field, aligning project management and operations

Lead and Develop the Civil Project Team

·        Set clear expectations, define roles and standards, and drive accountability for team performance and behaviors

·        Coach, mentor, and develop project and field leaders, addressing performance issues early through direct feedback and corrective action

Build Client Relationships and Support Business Growth

·        Serve as a primary client contact and model strong client leadership

·        Build long-term client relationships that drive repeat and referral business

·        Support pursuit strategies, proposals, and industry engagement

Lead Safety and Compliance

·        Partner with field leadership to plan and execute work safely

·        Set and model strong safety expectations and hold teams accountable

·        Ensure incidents, near misses, and hazards are reported and addressed promptly

·        Exercise stop-work authority when necessary to protect people and projects

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of Civil construction project management experience 
  • At least 5 years of experience leading and managing high-performing project and field teams 
  • Background in estimating for civil construction projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Bid2Win / Track, or equivalent, for estimating and production tracking
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Build, equivalent, for project management
  • Proficiency with Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC), or equivalent, for project scheduling and controls

Work Environment

This role involves both office and jobsite environments and may require travel to active construction sites in varying weather and working conditions.

Location

This position is based in Burlington, Washington, with work performed at project sites in surrounding areas.

Travel

This position requires some travel to prospective and active jobsites.

Vehicle & Equipment

TRICO provides a company vehicle and fuel, along with the tools and resources needed to perform the role effectively.

Compensation

$148,582 - $172,003, depending on experience and qualifications, plus bonus eligibility.
