Job Description
As a Design Build Manager, you'll serve as the lead for complex building design projects that follow the Design Build method of project delivery -managing the full project lifecycle from preliminary design through construction completion. You will work closely with our Design Build Contractor partner, including overseeing budgets, schedules, QA/QC, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and staff mentorship, ensuring design, etc. meet project requirements.
What You'll do:
• Full project lifecycle oversight: Lead projects from contract negotiation, preliminary design and engineering through final design, construction documentation, and construction support.
• Complex technical coordination: Manage internal interdisciplinary teams covering architectural, MEP and structural design, and external consultants' coordination.
• Budget & schedule control: Maintain overall accountability for budget, schedule, scope, and quality on project.
• Public involvement & stakeholder engagement: Support public outreach efforts and serve as primary liaison with agencies, municipalities, and utilities.
• Construction phase services support: Oversee shop drawing reviews, construction schedule monitoring, and change order plan development.
• Business development: Support RFP responses and cultivate long-term client relationships.
• Mentorship & leadership: Develop junior staff, foster technical innovation, and contribute to studio leadership.
What You Bring:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (any of the disciplines) or Architecture.
• Licensure: Active California-licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Architect.
• Experience: 15+ years in design, including leading projects from conceptual design through construction within the past 10 years.
• Project Management: Proven track record of managing Design Build projects with $5MM in fee+.
• Technical proficiency: Working knowledge of industry standard digital delivery tools like BIM, CAD, Bluebeam etc
• Leadership skills: Proven track record in budget/schedule control, technical coordination, communication, negotiation, and project oversight.
• Experience within transportation, civic or public sector projects required
Compensation Range:
$196,118.41 - $224,135.33
