We're excited to grow our Transportation team with the addition of a Transportation Design Engineer; a strategic role for professionals passionate about designing and delivering transportation infrastructure projects, with a strong emphasis on Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) standards and requirements.

In this role, you will work closely with Heidi Schwarz, PE, Project Manager, and collaborate with ISG internal resources for design and project execution, code review and evaluations, specification writing, visualization, and construction administration. You'll assist with projects that align with WisDOT guidelines, ensuring compliance and quality while driving innovative solutions for our clients.

You will work with a team of engineers on design and production of all aspects of roadway design including horizontal and vertical alignments; intersection layout; corridor modeling; drainage design; ROW, cross sections; utility plans; signing & marking; and quantity/cost estimating.
  • Plan, design, and analyze data on roadway/transportation engineering projects
  • Prepare studies with associated drawings, maps, reports, and supporting documentation
  • Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Prepare construction drawings
  • Prepare specifications
  • Conduct site visits and report findings to supervisory engineers and/or project managers
  • Assist project managers and more experienced engineers in ensuring project/task schedules and budgets are met
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure timely and accurate document or drawing preparation Responsible for progressing knowledge through completion of various training initiatives: attending seminars; reviewing professional publications; and attending in-house training courses
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering
  • 5+ years of transportation design experience
  • Knowledgeable in Autodesk Civil3D software is preferred
  • Must demonstrate the ability to present complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Must be a self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team to meet project schedules and deadlines
