Job description

Position Summary
Branch Civil is searching for an experienced Design-Build Coordinator to join our pursuit teams in developing proposals for Design-Build Transportation projects in the Southeast region, including Virginia and North Carolina. The Coordinator will support Branch's Design-Build group in providing pursuit and post-award coordination with designers for the projects. During the RFP pursuit phase, the Coordinator will lead the design coordination effort for Branch to manage the RFP design budget, develop innovative ideas, perform constructability reviews, and ensure compliance with the RFP documents in conjunction with the designer. Post-award, the Coordinator will work with Branch's Operation Team to manage the designer's design schedule, ensure timely submissions, perform constructability reviews, track changes between RFC and approved plans, and follow the project's design through plan approvals.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Manage the designer's services during project pursuit and establish a design budget
  • Generate design deliverables and design schedule for the pursuit
  • Monitor pursuit design schedule and milestone dates for the Owner
  • Ensure constructability of design and compliance with RFP specifications
  • Lead all Technical Work Groups associated with the design and coordinate the interface between design and estimating teams
  • Coordinate with Operations personnel to perform constructability reviews
  • Coordinate brainstorming sessions and contribute to development of innovative ideas or Alternative Technical Concepts
  • Manage deliverables to estimating team
  • Work with estimating team to develop the Design Fee and any Construction Services scope of work
  • Integrate with Operations staff to manage the post-award design process

Duties/Responsibilities Cont.
  • Develop post-award design schedule with Designer
  • Track all submittals and approvals for post-award design until design is complete
  • Perform over-the-shoulder reviews with the Designer
  • Document any changes to the budget based on design development
  • Lead the post-award design constructability review with Operations staff
  • Provide monthly report of design status to Project Team
  • Manage the post-award design process to optimize design and reduce scope of work while meeting the RFP specifications

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 10+ years related industry experience in Heavy Civil Construction
  • 2 to 3+ years of related Design Coordination or Design Management experience on Design-Build or P3 projects valued at $10M+. Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • Experience in roadway and structure design on transportation improvement projects.
  • Familiar with managing design to develop cost efficiency and generate value engineering opportunities
  • Technical writing and presentation skills in order to help in the production of SOQs and Technical Proposals
  • Prior experience in leading multidiscipline designers and ability to organize, plan, and report on progress
  • Ability to interface with joint venture partners, owners, and stakeholders while developing productive relationships
  • Must be a self-starter, have a strong work ethic, and to be committed to quality.
