Job description

The Front Desk Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, families, visitors, and staff whether in person or by phone. This role is responsible for providing compassionate, courteous, and efficient front‑desk service while supporting administrative operations in a healthcare environment. The Front Desk Receptionist plays a key part in representing Patriot Healthcare by handling all public interactions with respect and professionalism. This role will provide support to our office employees, ensuring they have all the information and resources they need to perform their best.

Duties and Responsibilities_

  • Steward the philosophy/mission of Patriot Healthcare which focuses on the overriding values of human dignity and respectful response to the needs of people with life threatening/terminal and/or chronic illnesses

  • Greet and assist patients, families, visitors, vendors, and staff in a professional and compassionate manner

  • Answer, screen, and route incoming telephone calls promptly and courteously. Listen actively and respond with empathy

  • Coordinate communication between clinical staff, management, and callers

  • Respond to general inquiries and provide basic information regarding hospice and palliative services

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations at all times

  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and conference rooms as needed

  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail, packages, and deliveries

  • Maintain the reception area to ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming environment

  • Prepare outgoing mail for pickup

  • Perform clerical tasks including data entry, filing, copying, scanning, and record maintenance

  • Assist with administrative support tasks as directed (e.g., forms preparation, document tracking)

Professionalism:

Demonstrates professionalism in attire and attitude. Promotes cohesive positive relationships with co-workers. Treats patient and care givers with compassion and respect. Communicates with other offices/businesses professionally

Attendance/Punctuality:

Adheres to policy and procedures regarding time off, arriving on time, and early departure. Being ready work at start of shift

Dependability:

Demonstrates dependability through attendance and successful completion of any assigned task

Qualifications:

Must possess, as a minimum, a 12th grade education or its equivalent. Must have, as a minimum, 1 year’s office experience. Must have effective computer skills, highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
