Job DetailsJob Location: Bowie Operations Center - Bowie, TX 76230Position Type: Full TimePRIMARY FUNCTION

Leads and manages the Bank's Deposit Services department, ensuring the efficient, accurate, and compliant delivery of deposit operations, centralized research and account maintenance, exception item processing, regulatory compliance for Government processing, Escheatment and Legal Notice processing, year-end tax reporting, IRS reporting, and related operational services.

Responsible for the people, processes, controls, systems, and third-party relationships supporting deposit operations while promoting operational excellence, risk management, regulatory compliance, process improvement, and exceptional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Leads, coaches, develops, and manages the Deposit Services team while fostering a culture of accountancy, service excellence, collaboration, continuous improvement, and alignment with Legend Bank's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Establishes performance expectations, conducts employee evaluations, provides coaching and development, and recommends personnel actions in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Oversee daily Deposit Services operations to ensure accurate, efficient, compliant, and customer-focused service delivery, including account research and maintenance, return item processing, exception processing, government processing, tax reporting, IRS reporting, and branch operational support.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, operating rules, and Bank policies, including Regulation E, Regulation CC, NACHA Operating Rules, OFAC requirements, UCC, Check 21, BSA/AML operational requirements, IRS reporting requirements, and other applicable regulatory guidance.
  • Maintains a strong operational control environment by identifying, monitoring, and managing operational, fraud, compliance, reputational, and third-party risks; supports internal audits, external audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory examinations and ensures timely resolution of findings.
  • Develops, maintains, and updates departmental policies, procedures, workflows, documentation, controls, and training materials to support consistency, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identifies and implements opportunities to improve operational efficiency, strengthen controls, automate processes, enhance customer and employee experiences, and support the Bank's strategic growth objectives.
  • Establishes and monitors departmental performance metrics, service standards, operational reporting, and key risk indicators, communicating significant trends, issues, and recommendations to executive management.
  • Serves as the operational liaison for assigned systems, vendors, and third-party service providers, supporting vendor management activities, system enhancements, digital banking initiatives, technology implementations, and operational improvement projects.
  • Collaborates effectively with branch leadership and cross-functional partners to ensure consistent service delivery, resolve operational issues, and support enterprise-wide objectives.
  • Maintains the confidentiality and security of customer, employee, and Bank information and performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
QualificationsSPECIFICATIONS OF POSITION:

The Deposit Services Manager is expected to possess strong leadership, operational, analytical, and risk management capabilities. The position requires the ability to effectively lead a team, manage multiple priorities, drive operational improvements, communicate with all levels of the organization, and balance customer service objectives with sound operational controls and regulatory compliance requirements.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, Banking, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, industry certifications, banking experience, and leadership experience may be considered.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Strong knowledge of deposit operations, ACH, wire transfers, account maintenance, exception processing, and related back-office banking functions.
  • Working knowledge of NACHA Operating Rules, Regulation E, Regulation CC, UCC, Check 21, OFAC, BSA/AML operational requirements, and other applicable banking regulations.
  • Familiarity with digital banking platforms, electronic payments, and core banking systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and leverage reporting to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive banking operations experience required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of leadership or management experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing deposit operations, ACH processing, wire support, account maintenance, return items, exception processing, and related operational functions.
  • Experience supporting audits, regulatory examinations, compliance requirements, and operational controls.
  • Experience leading process improvements, workflow redesign, operational efficiency initiatives, or technology implementations preferred.
  • Community banking experience is strongly preferred.
