What is a deployment strategist?

Deployment Strategists are professionals responsible for designing and implementing strategies to ensure the successful adoption and integration of new technologies, products, or processes within an organization. They work closely with clients or internal teams to understand business needs, identify challenges, and create tailored deployment plans. Their role often involves coordinating cross-functional teams, managing project timelines, and ensuring solutions deliver measurable value. Deployment Strategists play a key role in bridging the gap between technical solutions and business objectives, ensuring smooth transitions and maximizing return on investment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a deployment strategist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Deployment Strategist, you need strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a background in business, engineering, or data science, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with data analytics tools, project management software, and sometimes experience with cloud platforms or programming languages is important. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and adaptability are standout soft skills for this role. These skills ensure effective solution delivery, alignment with client needs, and successful implementation of complex projects.

How does a deployment strategist typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during project rollouts?

Deployment Strategists work closely with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and client stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of solutions. They facilitate communication between technical teams and clients, translating business needs into actionable deployment plans. A key part of their role is aligning project goals, managing timelines, and proactively resolving potential roadblocks, making cross-functional collaboration essential to success. This environment offers ample opportunities to develop leadership skills and gain exposure to various business domains.

Job description

Role

Because government agencies are adopting Peregrine at a rapid pace, we are looking for execution-oriented leaders to own product deployment and customer impact delivery across our client base.ย Our Deployment Strategists are critical to Peregrine's business strategy. They are both the vector through which we deploy our product platform to deliver value to our customers, and the engine that powers our sales, marketing, and product feedback loops.

As a Deployment Strategist, you will:

  • Identify workflows where our product can create operational impact for our customers
  • Develop products, data models, and data pipelines to enable our customers to execute on those workflows
  • Build relationships with customer executives to ensure Peregrine is oriented toward their hardest operational problems
  • As a North Star, deliver our product to our customers with best-in-market quality and speed in complex, mission-critical environments
About You
  • You are excited to write code that helps our customers get the right information to the right places at the right timesย
  • You are passionate about finding elegant solutions to complex data modeling problems that help unlock value from siloed, disparate data sources
  • You are an autonomous leader who enjoys finding novel product, workflow, and business opportunities
  • You thoughtfully cultivate long-term relationships with customers and teammates
  • You are an empathetic listener who deeply cares about customer feedback
  • You are a clear and concise communicator with a spike in persuasive and compelling storytelling that resonates with executive audiences
What We Look For
  • 2-5 years of experience working directly with customers and clients to deploy enterprise software products or conduct data analysis
  • Polished communication and presentation skills, including the ability to convey technical and non-technical concepts to a diverse audience
  • Strong data modeling and data analysis skills (experience with SQL and Python preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a computer science or technical degree
  • Located in Washington, D.C.
  • Ability to travel ~50% of time
