What is a deployment consultant?

Deployment Consultants are professionals who help organizations implement and integrate new software, systems, or technologies. They work closely with clients to understand their needs, configure solutions, and ensure a smooth transition from old to new systems. Deployment Consultants often provide technical support, training, and troubleshooting during and after the deployment process. Their goal is to minimize disruption and maximize the effectiveness of the new technology within the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a deployment consultant?

To thrive as a Deployment Consultant, you need expertise in project management, systems integration, and a relevant technical background, often supported by a degree in IT or related fields. Familiarity with deployment tools, enterprise software (like ERP or CRM systems), and certifications such as PMP or ITIL are commonly required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and client management skills help build trust and ensure smooth project delivery. These skills are crucial for successfully guiding clients through complex implementations, minimizing disruptions, and achieving desired business outcomes.

What are some common challenges deployment consultants face when integrating new systems for clients?

Deployment Consultants often encounter challenges such as aligning client expectations with technical capabilities, managing tight project timelines, and ensuring smooth data migration. They must also address unforeseen compatibility issues between legacy systems and new solutions, which can require creative problem-solving and close collaboration with both client IT teams and internal developers. Effective communication, flexibility, and proactive risk management are essential to navigate these complexities and deliver successful deployments.

Job description

The Role

Forgepoint is hiring a Deployment Strategy Lead to build the organization that turns signed customers into successful, scaled deployments of Frank. This is a player-coach role: you will personally lead our most important deployments, write the playbook from firsthand experience, refine it constantly, and then hire, develop, and manage the team responsible for executing it.

You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with CEOs, COOs, Plant Managers, and frontline operators to understand how work gets done today and redesign those operations around AI workers. You’ll translate messy business processes into clear requirements, agent behaviors, guardrails, approvals, and handoffs; coordinate the Agent Engineers who configure and launch Frank; and drive each deployment from contract signature through measurable ROI and steady-state adoption.

At the same time, you’ll turn what works into a repeatable deployment system. You’ll define the operating cadence, templates, quality standards, metrics, and management practices that allow us to deploy faster without lowering the bar. As the company grows, you’ll recruit and coach Deployment Strategists, allocate the team across customers, and build the leaders beneath you.

This role is designed to grow into leadership of Forgepoint’s entire Deployments organization. The right person is equally energized by winning in the field today and building the organization that will win at much greater scale tomorrow.

What you’ll do
  • Personally lead high-priority customer deployments from contract signature through go-live, demonstrated ROI, and steady-state adoption

  • Build trusted relationships with customer executives and frontline teams, moving comfortably between the boardroom and the shop floor

  • Translate ambiguous workflows and business rules into clear requirements, deployment plans, SOPs, and work for Agent Engineers

  • Establish the deployment playbook: discovery methods, project plans, operating cadences, templates, quality standards, escalation paths, and success metrics

  • Continuously improve that playbook using lessons from every deployment, reducing time to value while increasing quality and customer satisfaction

  • Hire, onboard, coach, and manage a high-performing team of Deployment Strategists

  • Create the systems for allocating work, reviewing deployment quality, developing talent, and holding the team accountable for customer outcomes

  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to turn recurring customer needs into product improvements and more scalable deployment tooling

  • Identify expansion opportunities and help customers broaden their use of Frank after the initial deployment succeeds

  • Grow into leading the full Deployments organization as Forgepoint and our customer base scale

Who you are
  • You have 7+ years of experience in management consulting, enterprise software implementation, solutions, professional services, or another client-facing operating role

  • You have led complex, high-stakes customer engagements with senior executives and frontline stakeholders

  • You have built or materially improved a repeatable operating playbook—not just followed one

  • You are an exceptional operator who can manage many complex workstreams, close loops quickly, and maintain a very high attention to detail

  • You can turn ambiguous, messy processes into clear requirements, decisions, and plans that technical teams can execute

  • You are a strong people leader with experience hiring, coaching, and raising the performance of a team

  • You combine executive presence with low ego and are willing to do the work yourself before asking a team to scale it

  • You are commercially minded and can connect deployment outcomes to ROI, retention, and expansion

  • You learn new industries and operating environments quickly and enjoy spending time with customers in the field

  • You care about our mission and are excited to work in person five days a week in NYC and travel to customer sites across the US

Bonus points
  • Experience at both a top-tier consulting firm and a high-growth technology company

  • Experience building a deployment, implementation, solutions, customer success, or professional services organization

  • Experience in manufacturing or another industrial environment

  • Exposure to ERPs, MRPs, CRMs, MES, or accounting systems used by manufacturers

  • Experience deploying AI, automation, or other technically complex products into mission-critical workflows

  • Familiarity with LLM and agent concepts and the challenges of making AI systems reliable in production

About Forgepoint

Revitalize an industry. Rebuild America's manufacturing backbone.

America builds satellites, jet engines, and semiconductors with world-class precision, but the software running factory offices is decades behind. Estimators, procurement teams, and accountants still lose hours to spreadsheets, PDFs, and manual data entry.

Forgepoint builds AI workers for back office departments like quoting, purchasing, invoicing, and sales coordination. By removing back-office bottlenecks, we help US manufacturers move faster, grow, and compete globally.

We're backed by a16z speedrun and angels from Brex, Xwing, and Betterment. Join us in rebuilding the digital foundation of American manufacturing.

Our Founders

Jack Strauss — Co-Founder & CEO

Jack began his career at Acer and Northrop Grumman, then advised industrial companies at Bain. At Xwing, he helped scale the company and led GTM through its acquisition by Joby Aviation. He holds an MBA from Stanford and a BA from USC.

Alex Pareto — Co-Founder & CTO

Alex began his career at Meta, founded YC-backed Demeanor, and joined NTWRK after its acquisition. He later became a founding engineer on Brex Spend Management and led its engineering organization. He holds a BS in Computer Science from USC.

How we work
  • In person every day in NYC for high-bandwidth collaboration

  • Talk to users constantly: we build with manufacturers, not for them

  • Own outcomes end-to-end and drive solutions without waiting for permission

Our Values
  • We're Here to Win: We are building to help American manufacturers, our customers, our company, and our teammates win at the highest level.

  • There's Always a Way: We are relentlessly resourceful, take ownership of constraints, and find a path forward when others stop.

  • Truth Over Comfort: We choose honesty over ego, surface reality quickly, and change course when the facts demand it.

  • Act Now: We move fast, trust our instincts, and correct course as we go.

  • Step Up: We act like founders, fill gaps, fix problems, and follow through until the work is done.

  • The Team. The Team. The Team.: We put the team first, push and support each other, share wins, and own failures together.

Comp & Benefits
  • Base salary $200,000-$240,000 depending on level and experience, plus the opportunity to receive meaningful early-stage equity ($100,000-$150,000 per year) in Forgepoint. You'll also have great healthcare coverage, dinner provided at the office, and unlimited Celsius.

Location
  • You'll be in our NYC office five days a week with the opportunity to travel and be on-site with customers across the US, seeing firsthand how the workflows you design revolutionize the way they operate. If you're looking for a role where the real work happens somewhere else, this isn't it; if you want to be at the center of both the company and the customer, it is.
