About This Role

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: Head Start Preschool Part-time Cook

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

RATE OF PAY: Starting at $15.62 per hour

NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK: Part-time/ 29 hours per week

NUMBER OF MONTHS PER YEAR: 10+ months

LOCATION: Richlands Center


What You'll Do

The Cook is responsible for ensuring that meals are served in a safe, timely, and attractive manner and that all costs associated with preparation are adequately tracked. This individual is also responsible for ensuring that USDA, and Virginia Health Department, regulations are followed. This individual must order food and track inventory. This position requires regular attendance and punctuality as an essential part of the job function.


Requirements

Prior to hire, with conditional employment, the individual must submit to and have satisfactory criminal background check, national sex offender check, satisfactory reference checks (minimum of two), TB PPD, a pre-employment drug/alcohol test, and complete a Sworn Disclosure statement. After initial hire, the employee must submit to Child Protective Services check, DMV check, and possibly other vaccinations as required by the Special Projects Director. The individual may need to have or secure first-aid certification and CPR certification. The individual must have reliable transportation, hold a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record, provide proof of automobile liability insurance, and be willing to use personal automobile for work purposes. S/He must agree to submit to random, and, if applicable, post-accident and reasonable suspicion, drug/alcohol tests.
