To thrive as a Dental RN, you need a solid background in nursing fundamentals, dental procedures, and patient care, supported by an RN license and experience in dental or oral surgery settings. Familiarity with dental charting software, electronic health records (EHRs), and infection control protocols is typically required. As a Dental RN, you play a crucial role in supporting dentists and dental hygienists, particularly during surgical or complex dental procedures. You may be responsible for monitoring patient vitals, administering sedation or anesthesia under supervision, and ensuring a sterile environment. Collaboration often involves clear communication, anticipating the team's needs, and providing patient education before and after procedures. This teamwork helps ensure patient safety and enhances the efficiency of dental care delivery.

Dental RNs, or Dental Registered Nurses, are licensed registered nurses who specialize in providing nursing care within dental practices or oral surgery settings. They assist dentists and oral surgeons during procedures, monitor patient vitals, administer medications, provide pre- and post-operative care, and educate patients about oral health. Dental RNs blend their nursing expertise with specialized dental knowledge to ensure patient safety and comfort during dental treatments.
